Amit Shah to Chair High-Level Security Meet After Red Fort Blast Kills Eight

New Delhi, Nov 2025 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah will convene a high-level security review meeting at Kartavya Bhawan on Tuesday at 11 a.m., a day after a deadly explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station sent shockwaves across the national capital. The meeting is expected to chart the immediate security roadmap in the wake of the attack.

Senior officials scheduled to attend include Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, and National Investigation Agency (NIA) Director General Sadanand Vasant Date. Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat will join the meeting virtually, underscoring the inter-state dimensions of the investigation.

The security push follows Amit Shah’s late-night visit on Monday to the blast site near Gate No. 1 of Lal Qila Metro Station. Arriving around 9:45 p.m., the Home Minister inspected the charred remains of the vehicle that exploded, leaving eight people dead and more than a dozen injured. Forensic teams had cordoned off the area, marking debris scattered around the burnt-out shell of the car.

After the site inspection, Shah proceeded to Lok Nayak Jaiprakash (LNJP) Hospital to meet the injured. He spent nearly half an hour interacting with victims and their families, including a 12-year-old boy suffering from burn injuries and a taxi driver whose vehicle was engulfed in flames during the blast. The Home Minister assured full medical support and a comprehensive probe, stating that “no stone will be left unturned” in bringing those responsible to justice.

The incident came hours after Jammu and Kashmir Police said they dismantled a major transnational terror module affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. Acting in coordination with central agencies, the police recovered an unprecedented cache of 2,900 kg of explosives, two assault rifles, pistols, timers, and other equipment during a raid in Faridabad, Haryana — just outside Delhi. Seven individuals linked to the network have been arrested so far.

Following the Red Fort blast, security has been intensified across Delhi-NCR, with NSG commandos deployed at sensitive locations and surveillance boosted around metro stations, markets, and tourist sites. High alerts have also been issued in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai as agencies work to determine whether the explosion is connected to the busted terror module.

The upcoming meeting chaired by Amit Shah is expected to shape the next phase of the investigation and the security measures to follow across multiple states.
