NIA Forms 10-Member Special Team to Probe Red Fort Metro Blast
New Delhi, Nov 2025 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has set up a special 10-member team to investigate the blast near Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi.
The team will be led by ADG Vijay Sakhare and includes an Inspector General (IG), two Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs), three Superintendents of Police (SPs), and four officers at the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) level, sources said on Wednesday.
The development comes a day after the Home Ministry handed over the Delhi blast case to the NIA. The explosion occurred on the evening of November 10, when a Haryana-registered car parked near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station detonated, killing at least eight people and injuring several others.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the ongoing multi-state searches and investigations, reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s determination to bring the perpetrators to justice. Chairing a meeting with top security officials, Shah directed agencies to thoroughly probe the conspiracy behind the attack.
Investigators are meticulously scanning over 1,000 CCTV footage clips and suspect that the car explosion may have been a suicide attack intended to cause maximum casualties. Security agencies are also monitoring social media activity and collecting mobile phone dump data from the vicinity of the Red Fort. This data is expected to help identify phone numbers and communication links associated with the perpetrators.
The NIA, Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Delhi Police Special Cell have been instructed to work in close coordination. HM Shah emphasized a zero-compromise approach, stating, “No stone will be left unturned.”
Following the blast, high alerts have been issued across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with security strengthened at crowded public spaces, metro stations, and religious sites. Additional measures include intensified patrolling and monitoring of suspicious activities to prevent further incidents.
The NIA team is now leading the investigation, coordinating closely with state police and intelligence agencies to unravel the network behind the attack, track down accomplices, and ensure swift justice. With the probe underway, authorities are leaving no avenue unexplored in their efforts to neutralize any ongoing threat and secure the capital city.
