Tribal Community is Soul Of Our Culture, We Are Preserving Memories of Our Tribal Heroes : CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that we are filled with pride that Madhya Pradesh is the state with highest tribal population in country. In the state, 21 percent population belongs to tribal community. People of the tribal community protect nature and live their lives under its shelter. Our government is committed to educational, social, economic and cultural development of all these tribes. Many schemes are being run by the government for overall development of tribes. He said that 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda will be celebrated in a very dignified manner. There is a need for deliberation on welfare of the tribal community. For this, office-bearers of voluntary organisations from across the country have gathered in Bhopal. The nectar that will emerge from this deliberation is our asset. For welfare of tribes, the government will move forward step by step along with all voluntary institutions and welfare organisations. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that in the government, Tribal Welfare Minister Dr. Kunwar Vijay Shah is rich in innovations for tribal welfare. He honoured tribal doctors by presenting them a stethoscope instead of a garland and also inspired everyone to take benefit of government schemes.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the All India NGO Meet organised under the joint aegis of Central and State government on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Tribal Pride Year at Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre on Wednesday. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated the one-day meet by lighting the lamp.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that non-government organisations play an important role in teducational, economic and social welfare of tribal community. The state government stands firmly with institutions in this noble work. Tribal welfare is our government’s commitment. The state government organised a Cabinet meeting in Jabalpur dedicated to Rani Durgavati during her 300th birth anniversary year. The state government has also publicised welfare works of Raja Shankar Shah, Kunwar Raghunath Shah. Our government has established a university in tribal belt of Khargone in name of Tantya Mama Bhil.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that cooperation of voluntary organisations makes it easier to achieve targets in government work. He said that on November 15, 2025, the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Bhagwan Birsa Munda is being observed through state-level programmes at Jabalpur and Alirajpur.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that we are proud that we got the privilege to host the national conclave of NGOs working for welfare of tribal brothers and sisters of the country and state. He said that both central and state governments have always placed tribal empowerment at the centre of their policies. NGOs play an important role in implementing welfare schemes related to tribal welfare, and in areas like health, education, culture, employment, and tourism development for tribal communities in remote regions.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is the home of tribes. The highest number of tribes in country reside in Madhya Pradesh. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, tribal pride has been restored. Our Prime Minister Shri Modi is honouring them. Today, from Rashtrapati Bhavan to village panchayat buildings, the presence of tribal brothers and sisters is proof of this. Campaigns like PM Jan Man and Dharti Aaba have become foundation of empowerment for tribal brothers and sisters. Many schemes being run for welfare of poor have made lives of tribal brothers and sisters easier. PESA rules have empowered tribal brothers and sisters.

Our Government is Preserving Memories of Tribal Heroes in MP

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that whether it is celebrating birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as Tribal Pride Day, or building museums and memorials in honour of tribal heroes across the country, we are preserving memories of our heroes. The biographies of heroes have been included in curriculum, so that the coming generation can become familiar with their real heroes. Our government has built Raja Shankar Shah and Raghunath Shah Freedom Fighters Museum in Jabalpur to take their bravery to people and preserve their memories. Habibganj railway station in Bhopal was renamed after Rani Kamlapati and Patalpani railway station was named after tribal hero Tantya Bhil. We are taking stories of the bravery of tribal heroes and heroines to masses. Two Cabinet meetings dedicated to Veerangana Rani Durgavati have been held in Jabalpur and Singrampur (Damoh). On June 3, we held a Cabinet meeting dedicated to Raja Bhabhut Singh in Pachmarhi.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that NGOs are institutions that work to bring positive change in society, raise voice of the deprived and marginalised groups, and work as a link between government and public. NGOs help government and society in implementing schemes in rural development and social welfare and delivering government policies at the ground level. NGOs have made significant contributions in education, health, livelihood and implementation of Forest Rights Act. In today’s national conclave, interactive discussions will be held on four sectors: education, health, livelihood, Forest Rights Act and tribal governance. The discussions will contribute significantly to policy formulation and implementation by the central and state governments.

Deputy Director General in Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, Ms. Anshu Singh said that this conference has been organised on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Many programmes like PM Jan Man and Dharti Aaba Tribal Village Excellence Campaign are being run by the central government. The literacy rate gap between general and tribal communities was 14 percent in 2011, which has now reduced to 6 percent. Infant mortality has also decreased, but more work is still needed. The central government is also taking support of NGOs to implement education, health and livelihood related government schemes on the ground.

Tribal Affairs Minister Dr. Kunwar Vijay Shah, Minister of State for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare (Independent Charge) Smt. Krishna Gaur, MLA Shri Bhagwandas Sabnani, Municipal Corporation President Shri Kishan Suryavanshi, Padma Shri Mahesh Sharma, Swami Anuraganandji from Ramakrishna Mission, Shri Suresh Swami, Shri Mukesh Gaur, Shri Kishor Dhakde, Shri Rajaram Katara, Principal Secretary Tribal Affairs Shri Gulshan Bamra, Commissioner of Tribal Affairs Shri Satendra Singh, Smt. Preeti Maithil and a large number of officials and representatives of NGOs from country and state were present.
