Uninterrupted Water Supply to Citizens and Farmers Is Top Priority, Says CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur, Nov 2025 : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that the Rajasthan government is fully committed to ensuring the availability of water for the people and farmers across the state. He directed officials to complete all drinking water and irrigation projects as per the planned schedule through regular monitoring.

Mr. Sharma was presiding over a review meeting of the Water Resources Department, Command Area Development Department, and Indira Gandhi Canal Department at the Chief Minister’s Office on Wednesday. He noted that in the last two state budgets, the government had announced several key initiatives to strengthen drinking water and irrigation facilities for citizens and farmers. The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of these budget announcements and instructed officials to accelerate the pace of ongoing works.

Progress on Ramjal Setu Link Project
Highlighting the significance of the Ramjal Setu Link Project, the Chief Minister said that it will ensure uninterrupted water supply to a large population in the state. He instructed concerned officers to carry out each phase of the project responsibly and as per the action plan. He also directed that all other drinking water development works be monitored regularly to ensure timely completion.

Yamuna Water for Sikar, Churu, and Jhunjhunu
Mr. Sharma emphasized that the state government is consistently working to make Yamuna water available to the districts of Sikar, Churu, and Jhunjhunu. He issued special directions to expedite progress in this regard.

Referring to the Indira Gandhi Canal Project, the Chief Minister instructed that all developmental works under the project be completed within the stipulated time frame and with the highest quality standards. He also noted that December will mark 100 years of the construction of the Ganganagar Canal, and on this occasion, a development plan should be prepared to further enhance the canal’s capacity and extend its benefits to a larger population.

Review of Key Projects
During the meeting, Mr. Sharma reviewed the status of several major water and irrigation projects, including:

  • Dewas III and IV Projects
  • Upper High Level Canal
  • Rajasthan Water Sector Livelihood Improvement Project
  • Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project
  • Parvan Major Multipurpose Irrigation Project
  • Kaleetir Lift Project
  • Dholpur Lift Irrigation and Drinking Water Project
  • Pump Storage Projects, among others.

He instructed officials to expedite approvals related to forest and environmental clearances and other necessary permissions connected with these projects.

The Chief Minister also directed that processes related to pending budget announcements, such as Notice Inviting Tenders (NITs), work orders, and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), should be completed at the earliest.

The meeting was attended by Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat, along with senior officials from the Water Resources Department and the Chief Minister’s Office.
