NDA Confident of Nitish Kumar’s Return as Chief Minister Ahead of Bihar Vote Counting

Patna, Nov 2025 : As Bihar braces for the counting of votes on November 14, political temperatures have soared with both the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) exuding confidence about forming the next government. The NDA leaders are asserting that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to take oath for a record 10th term, while the Opposition claims the people have voted decisively for change.

BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal said, “The people of Bihar have given their verdict with great enthusiasm. The development work carried out under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and the unwavering trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi will ensure that the NDA forms the government once again with a thumping majority. Abki Baar NDA Sarkar!”

Jaiswal added that the peaceful conduct of elections was a reflection of the public’s trust in the current administration. “There was no re-polling, no violence, and the voter turnout was high. This clearly shows the people’s confidence in the government,” he said.

Echoing similar optimism, JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said that the people of Bihar “no longer trust” RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. “He faces several corruption charges, and under his leadership, the INDIA bloc has suffered setbacks. The people of Bihar want Nitish Kumar to continue as Chief Minister for the 10th time,” he said.

BJP leader Ram Kripal Yadav too declared that the NDA’s victory was all but certain. “The result is already known even before counting. The NDA will return to power with a huge majority, and Nitish Kumar will once again be sworn in as Chief Minister,” he asserted.

LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Shambhavi Choudhary maintained that the Opposition’s claims were baseless. “The Opposition will make tall claims — that’s politics. But the fact is, the NDA is set to form the government once again with a full majority. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will take the oath once more,” she said.

However, Opposition leaders have dismissed these claims, saying the ruling alliance is being overconfident. Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput said, “We have no faith in the exit polls sponsored by the government. We trust the people’s mandate and are confident that the Mahagathbandhan will secure a large majority. Similar predictions were made in Uttar Pradesh, but the Opposition performed strongly there. Bihar will see the same.”

RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari expressed confidence that the people’s desire for change would be reflected in the results. “Tomorrow, when the votes are counted, Bihar will witness a new dawn. The Mahagathbandhan government is destined to be formed, just as the Sun rises in the East. Every vote will matter, and tonight will be a long night for the NDA,” he said.

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), counting of votes will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, with trends expected to emerge by noon and final results likely by evening.

The second phase of polling, held on November 11, concluded peacefully with a 68.79 per cent turnout, as per Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjiyal. The first phase, conducted on November 6, had also recorded robust participation, signaling high voter enthusiasm across the state.

The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, conducted in two phases, witnessed one of the most closely fought contests in recent years. While most exit polls released on Tuesday forecast a decisive win for the BJP-led NDA, some polls indicated a tight race in certain constituencies.

Several polling agencies projected that the NDA would comfortably cross the halfway mark of 122 seats, with a few even suggesting it could win over 160 seats. The Mahagathbandhan, comprising the RJD, Congress, and Left parties, was projected to secure fewer than 100 seats in most surveys.

As the state awaits the official results, both alliances have intensified their last-minute outreach to workers and supporters. While the NDA is preparing for celebrations, the Mahagathbandhan maintains that it will spring a surprise, insisting that the people have voted for “change and accountability.”

With counting day just hours away, Bihar stands at a political crossroads — poised to decide whether Nitish Kumar continues his long tenure at the helm or whether the Opposition can script an unexpected turnaround in one of India’s most politically significant states.
