Pulwama Doctor Linked to Delhi Blast: Security Forces Demolish House After DNA Confirms Identity
Srinagar, Nov 2025 : Security forces have demolished the house of Dr. Umar Nabi, the man who drove the explosive-laden car involved in the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort earlier this week, officials said on Friday. The demolition took place during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The car explosion, which occurred on Monday night, claimed 13 lives and left several others injured. Investigators later confirmed that Umar was behind the wheel of the Hyundai i20 packed with explosives. His identity was established after DNA samples gathered from the blast site matched those of his mother.
Umar, once known as an academically bright and professionally accomplished doctor, had reportedly undergone a dramatic transformation over the past two years. Officials said he became increasingly isolated and had joined multiple radical online groups, which investigators believe contributed to his radicalisation.
Security forces said the demolition was part of ongoing counterterrorism measures in the region, aimed at dismantling the support structures of individuals involved in terror activities.
Further investigations are underway, and additional details are awaited.
