Chief Minister and Entire Cabinet Take to the Streets in the Campaign to Make Delhi Clean and Pollution-Free
‘Meri Dilli – Meri Zimmedari’: Rekha Gupta’s Emotional Appeal; Every Minister Actively Participates
Citywide Cleaning, Inspections, and Awareness Drives Continue as Part of Delhi Government’s Major Public Campaign
New Delhi, Nov 2025 : To combat the rising pollution levels and growing filth in the city, Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, along with her entire cabinet (the Delhi Team), has taken direct charge of the ongoing cleanliness and anti-pollution campaign by leading efforts on the ground. The Chief Minister asserted that “Meri Dilli – Meri Zimmedari” is not merely a slogan but the core working principle of the Delhi Government.
She said that the vision of making the national capital clean and pollution-free can be realised only when citizens and the government work together. Making an emotional appeal, she stated: “Delhi is our shared legacy. If Delhi stands united, the city will certainly become clean. Every small effort by each citizen contributes to a healthier and cleaner environment for future generations.”
A major highlight of the campaign is the active involvement of the entire cabinet and elected representatives across the city, who are working within their respective constituencies to curb pollution and improve sanitation. Demonstrating the government’s commitment, senior officials from multiple departments have also been on the ground, inspecting cleanliness arrangements and issuing necessary directions.
As part of these ongoing efforts, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today inspected Road No. 41 near the Najafgarh Drain (formerly the Sahibi River) and reviewed sanitation and development works in the Outer Ring Road, Meera Bagh Seva Basti, Sonia Camp, and Paschim Puri Crossing areas. She instructed officials to ensure timely completion of all sanitation and infrastructure works with the highest quality standards. The Chief Minister reiterated that this is not a one-time exercise but a sustained and long-term campaign.
Water Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma inspected the Hauz Khas area of the Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency, accompanied by senior officials. He directed immediate corrective action wherever deficiencies in public amenities were identified. Several improvement works had already been initiated prior to his visit. He reaffirmed that upgrading basic facilities is a top priority of the government.
Education Minister Ashish Sood carried out an extensive inspection of cleanliness and waste-management arrangements in Mahavir Enclave Part-3, Solanki Chowk, and Pankha Road in Janakpuri. Residents informed him that waste from several wards was being dumped at a single collection point, causing inconvenience. He instructed officials to replace the gate of the waste-collection point, ensure proper segregation, and divert excess waste to Rajapuri. He also directed the preparation of a plan to merge adjacent vacant land with the existing site to create a larger, more organised waste-collection facility.
Industry Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated that continuous work is being carried out at the 62 pollution hotspots identified by the Delhi Government. Ground teams are actively working to reduce dust, debris, and overall pollution levels. He emphasised that collective effort is essential to ensure clean air for future generations. Today, he also participated in a cleanliness drive in the Palam area, accompanied by officials from various departments. He reiterated that the campaign will remain uninterrupted and will be further intensified in the coming days.
Development Minister Kapil Mishra has also been consistently participating in pollution-control and cleanliness activities. He recently took part in the campaign in Timarpur, and today he monitored operations in the Yamuna-bank areas, issuing necessary directions to officials.
Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh inspected sanitation arrangements in Ward 20 of Samaypur Badli. Wherever shortcomings were found, he ordered immediate corrective action. He also participated in an awareness rally promoting waste segregation and a single-use-plastic-free Delhi, and appreciated the active participation of local residents.
Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh announced the rollout of a colour-coded bedsheet system across all government hospitals in Delhi. Under the Kayakalp initiative, a different colour will be used each day of the week to enhance cleanliness, infection control, and patient comfort. The designated colours are: Monday – White, Tuesday – Pink, Wednesday – Green, Thursday – Purple, Friday – Blue, Saturday – Light Grey, Sunday – Peach.
