CM Dhami Conducts Surprise Inspection at ISBT Dehradun; Picks Up Broom After Seeing Filth

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made a surprise visit to ISBT Dehradun today, arriving directly from the Secretariat in the afternoon to inspect the arrangements. His sudden arrival created a state of panic among administrative officials. The Chief Minister closely examined cleanliness, passenger facilities, operational systems, and transport management at the premises.

During the inspection, CM Dhami expressed strong displeasure after noticing dirt and litter in several areas. He said that negligence in cleanliness at important public places like ISBT would not be tolerated. At one point, the Chief Minister himself picked up a broom and cleaned the area, sending a clear message to officials that cleanliness drives must not remain only on paper but should be visible on the ground.

He issued clear instructions to the Transport Department and the MDDA to ensure regular cleaning of the ISBT premises. He directed that cleanliness-related signboards be installed everywhere and that passengers must be provided with a clean, dust-free, and pollution-free environment. He specifically instructed MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari to prepare an effective action plan for improving cleanliness and overall arrangements at ISBT and implement it immediately.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister also reviewed bus operations, ticket counters, waiting halls, drinking water facilities, toilets, shops, and security measures. He said that Uttarakhand is a major tourism and pilgrimage destination visited by millions of tourists and devotees every year. Therefore, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and passenger facilities at bus stations, railway stations, and transport hubs is a top priority for the state.

CM Dhami interacted directly with passengers present at ISBT, inquired about their well-being, and sought feedback from them. He asked them what problems they face during travel and what improvements can be made to the system. He said that passengers’ suggestions form the strongest foundation for improving services.

The Chief Minister announced that the state government will soon launch a widespread cleanliness campaign across Uttarakhand with public participation at its core. He warned officials that during his next inspection, all arrangements at ISBT must be in perfect order; otherwise, strict action will be taken against those responsible.

Senior officials from the Transport Department and MDDA were present during the inspection.
