Udaipur Wins ‘Best Wedding Destination’ at Outlook Traveller Awards 2025; Rajasthan Shines Again

Nov 2025 : Udaipur, the City of Lakes, has once again reaffirmed its prominence in wedding tourism by winning the ‘Best Wedding Destination’ title at the Outlook Traveller Awards 2025. The award was announced on Saturday during a grand ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency in New Delhi.

Sikkim’s Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister T.T. Bhutia presented the award to Anand Tripathi, Additional Director of Rajasthan Tourism, and Sumita Saroch, Joint Director (Udaipur).

Rajasthan has consistently led in the destination wedding category. With its palaces, lakes, and Mewari heritage, Udaipur has long been the top choice for couples from India and abroad. In recent years, the city has ranked among the top five wedding destinations not only in Asia but also globally.

“Rajasthan Is India’s No. 1 Wedding Destination, Now Expanding Strong Global Presence”
Expressing happiness over Udaipur receiving the award, Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari said, “Rajasthan has always been the first choice for destination weddings. Nearly 70% of India’s heritage properties are located here. Our forts, palaces, and havelis are not just structures—they are the living spirit of Rajasthan’s history.”

She added that over 120 heritage venues in Rajasthan regularly host destination weddings. “This speaks volumes. The beauty, ambience, and traditions here transform a wedding from an event into a memorable experience.”

Tourism Commissioner Rukmani Riar said that under the visionary leadership of Deputy CM Diya Kumari, the Tourism Department is now fully prepared to establish a strong identity in wedding, wellness, and adventure tourism by leveraging the state’s heritage and culture.

Rigorous Expert Evaluation
Nominations were finalized by a jury of experts in tourism and heritage studies. The panel included Jyoti Mayal, Anubhav Sapra, Col. Ranveer Singh Jamwal, Dr. Navina Jafa, Dr. Latika Nath, and jury chair Anindita Ghosh. After a detailed review across several parameters, Udaipur was chosen as the Best Wedding Destination.

A Grand Event in Delhi
The award ceremony began with cultural performances, followed by presentations across multiple categories. Tourism experts, industry representatives, and key members of the travel fraternity attended the event.

Rajasthan’s Wedding Tourism Craze Continues
Udaipur’s global reputation has strengthened further in recent years due to several high-profile celebrity weddings. Adding to this recognition, Donald Trump Jr., son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, has arrived in India to attend the wedding of industrialist Ramraju Mantena’s daughter. He is set to reach Udaipur today for the royal celebrations scheduled from November 21–23 and will be staying at The Leela Palace on Lake Pichola. Such events continue to reinforce Udaipur’s standing as a leading global wedding destination.

Boost for the Tourism Sector
Experts believe this award comes at a time when Rajasthan is rapidly advancing in film shooting, events, and wedding tourism. Industry leaders have described it as a positive signal for the state’s brand value and future investment opportunities.
