Assam–Mizoram Border Festival 2025 Grandly Celebrated At Dholai, Assam

Dholai, Assam – Nov 2025: The ‘Assam–Mizoram Border Festival 2025’ (second edition) was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Central Field, CDC Dholai Office Ground in Dholai, Assam.

From Mizoram, the event was attended by Kolasib Deputy Commissioner Pu Robert C. Lalhmangaiha, SP Pu Lalrinpuia Varte, Addl. DC Kolasib Pi B. Malsawmtluangi, Pu Lalmuan Puia, PD (DRDO), Pu H. Vanlalbiakzauva, SDO (Civil) Vairengte, and Kawrthah SDO (Civil) among others.
Representing Assam were Parimal Suklabadya, MP Silchar, Nihar Ranjan Das, MLA Dholai, Cachar DC Mridul Yadav, IAS, several senior officials, and a large number of people from both states.

During his address, MLA Nihar Ranjan Das expressed happiness and said it was a privilege to host the Border Festival once again. He hoped that the event would create a strong foundation for harmony between the two states. He added that cultural collaboration deeply touches the hearts of people, and therefore continued cultural exchanges would help strengthen unity and understanding between communities of Assam and Mizoram.

MP Parimal Suklabadya said that all Indians are one people, and differences should not divide them. He appreciated the collective efforts of officials from both states and emphasised that past conflicts and misunderstandings must be left behind. He highlighted that India is progressing rapidly, with major economic growth underway. He also noted that the Bharatmala project is moving forward, and a high-quality 4-lane highway will significantly improve connectivity and enhance cooperation and exchange between the two states.

Kolasib DC Pu Robert C. Lalhmangaiha remarked that issues between Mizoram and Assam should not overshadow the relationship between the two states. He stressed the importance of maintaining peace and strengthening cooperation as responsible citizens of a great nation like India.

Cachar DC Mridul Yadav, IAS, expressed hope that the participants would carry home good memories of the festival. He believed the event would certainly improve relations between Assam and Mizoram. He also said that the presence of various communities from Assam made the event richer, and it was remarkable to celebrate a cultural programme together.

After the speeches, cultural performances from both states were showcased. Cultural troupes from Vairengte, Mamit, and Kawrthah represented Mizoram, performing traditional dances and highlighting Mizo heritage.
Alongside the cultural event, food stalls and displays set up by ASRLM (Assam) and MZSRLM (Mizoram) were visited by attendees. Sports events, including football and volleyball matches, also added to the day’s excitement.

Representatives from Mizoram included not only government officials but also members of Sub-HQ YMA Kolasib, MJA Kolasib District, and cultural groups from Vairengte and Mamit, making the event a vibrant symbol of unity and goodwill between the two neighbouring states.
