Agriculture Minister Pu P.C. Vanlalruata Holds Meeting With Union Minister Of State Shri Ram Nath Thakur
Aizawl, Nov 2025: During his visit to Mizoram yesterday, Shri Ram Nath Thakur, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, held a meeting with Pu P.C. Vanlalruata, Mizoram’s Minister for Agriculture, at the State Guest House in Aizawl. Also present were Pu Lalthansanga, Minister for Land Resources, Soil & Water Conservation, along with officials from the Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Department, Land Resources, Soil & Water Conservation, Irrigation & Water Resources, Horticulture, and KVKs. The Union Minister of State and his accompanying officials were hosted for a dinner interaction.
During the meeting, Union Minister Shri Ram Nath Thakur highlighted key observations from his visits to several locations in Mizoram and shared important suggestions for improving the work of agricultural departments. He emphasised the need for effective implementation of various Central Government schemes under the Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Department.
Referring to his visit to farmers in Siaha District earlier that day, the Union Minister said he met many sincere and hardworking farmers. He noted that the Government is fully committed to addressing the challenges faced by farmers and ensuring that they have greater opportunities for progress. He also stressed that all benefits and support being provided by the Central Government through agricultural departments must reach farmers in a timely manner for effective implementation. As Mizoram is a state blessed with rich natural resources, he said proper utilisation of these resources is crucial for achieving higher levels of development.
Mizoram’s Agriculture Minister, Pu P.C. Vanlalruata, expressed gratitude for the strong support received from the Central Government, which has enabled significant improvements in the conditions of farmers in the state. He also shared that the Central Government has already approved support for expanding tung and cocoa cultivation, and urged for continued assistance to speed up implementation of these initiatives.
During the meeting, Pu R. Lalnunzira, Director of the Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Department, delivered a vote of thanks. Students of Pachhunga University College presented a cultural performance, followed by closing remarks from Pi Zothantluangi, Joint Secretary.
