Illegal Felling of Sal Trees Seized in Jolgi Village
Penalty of ₹1.25 Lakh Proposed Against Landowner
Raipur, Nov 2025 : Acting on information regarding the illegal felling of five Sal trees in Jolgi village of Bharatpur development block under Manendragarh–Chirmiri–Bharatpur district, the Revenue Department took immediate action. Upon receiving the report, the concerned revenue officials reached the site and seized all illegally felled trees.

The investigation revealed that Samhāru Ram, son of Sirpat and a resident of Jolgi, had carried out the tree felling without any valid permission. Taking serious note of this violation, a case has been registered against him in the SDM Court, Bharatpur. As part of administrative action, a monetary penalty of ₹1.25 lakh has been proposed against the landowner. Additionally, the process of confiscating the felled Sal trees has already been initiated.
The district administration has clarified that environmental protection and safeguarding forest resources are top priorities. Strict action will continue to be taken against illegal tree felling, and punitive measures in such cases will be consistently enforced.
