A major sports stadium to be built in Bhopal’s Katara–Barrai area in the name of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that, under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the state government is continuously working for the welfare of the poor, farmers, women and youth. In line with the PM’s inspiration and vision for a developed India by 2047, Madhya Pradesh is contributing through ongoing development and good governance initiatives.

Three major projects totalling ₹194 crore were dedicated to the people of Bhopal in Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Nagar (Kolar) of Huzur Assembly constituency. These include the inauguration of the newly constructed Sandipani School in Katara-Barrai, the opening of the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Multi-Sports Stadium in Kolar, and the launch of infrastructure works under AMRUT 2.0.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced that the new sports complex, built on 9 acres at a cost of ₹11.5 crore, will provide excellent training and practice facilities for Bhopal’s youth, encouraging sports talent and healthy activities. The stadium is set to become a launch pad for future champions. The state government is actively promoting traditional sports like Mallakhamb, Kabaddi, and Equestrian across all assembly constituencies to nurture players and bring them to national and international recognition. State athletes are excelling in water sports, shooting, hockey, cricket, equestrian and mallakhamb. National and international medal winners from Madhya Pradesh are also being appointed to government positions.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated the newly constructed Sandipani School in the Katara–Barrai area, built at a cost of ₹29 crore, which will provide students in the region with enhanced educational facilities and modern learning resources. He also launched multiple works under the ₹155 crore AMRUT 2.0 project, which includes a 700-kilometre sewage network, nine sewage treatment plants with a total capacity of 171 MLD, and 1.21 lakh domestic sewage connections. The project will be executed in four packages and, upon completion, will expand Bhopal’s sewage network coverage by 60% and meet 85% of the city’s projected treatment requirements for 2040. Approximately 700,000 residents will directly benefit, and the project is slated for completion within three years.

New Sports and Civic Projects Announced for Katara-Barrai

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced a stadium named after Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay, to be built in Katara-Barrai (Ward No. 85). Plans for a new Dussehra ground on 16 acres in Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Nagar and a new police station in Kajlikheda for improved law and order were also revealed. The government is taking strict action against troublemakers and will construct seven grand gateways on Bhopal’s main roads named after great personalities. The Bhoomi Poojan for the grand Vikramaditya Gate on the Indore-Sehore road will beperformed, along with a gateway dedicated to Raja Bhoj in Bhopal.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav paid tribute to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee as an educator, founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh and visionary for the nation’s future. He stated that Dr. Mukherjee’s historic opposition to Article 370 and his decision to resign from his ministerial post and lead a movement in Kashmir, where he hoisted the national flag in Lal Chowk.

Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Vishvas Kailash Sarang highlighted the comprehensive development stream in Madhya Pradesh under Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s leadership, with balanced emphasis on infrastructure, school education and sports. The Kolar region is set to benefit from the new sports complex and Sandipani School, along with over ₹155 crore in new sewage line infrastructure.

School Education Minister Shri Uday Pratap Singh praised the continuous rollout of Sandipani Schools across the state and the inauguration of the new facility in Katara-Barrai. He affirmed that the government is securing bright futures for students with improved education, skill development, and employment opportunities.

Huzur MLA Shri Rameshwar Sharma thanked Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for delivering welfare schemes for the poor and farmers and noted the sports complex as a unique gift for the youth, offering practice facilities for 18 sports disciplines.

The event was attended by Minister of State for Backwards Classes and Minorities Welfare Smt. Krishna Gaur, Bhopal Mayor Smt. Malti Rai, MLA Shri Bhagwan Das Sabnani, numerous sports enthusiasts and citizens.
