RJD Strongly Objects to Bihar Government’s Order on Rabri Devi’s Residence
Patna, Nov 2025 : The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has expressed strong opposition to the Bihar government’s directive asking former Chief Minister Rabri Devi to vacate her official residence at 10, Circular Road, Patna.
On Wednesday, RJD Bihar State President Mangani Lal Mandal asserted that Rabri Devi would not comply with the order under any circumstances. Speaking to the media, Mandal said, “We will not vacate Rabri Devi’s residence under any circumstances. Whatever needs to be done will be done.”
Questioning the timing of the order, Mandal alleged political motives, stating, “Nitish Kumar has been the Chief Minister of Bihar for 20 years. Why was this residence not vacated earlier? Both Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi are former Chief Ministers. This is a deliberate attempt to insult the Lalu family and has been done out of political malice.”
The Building Construction Department had issued the order on Tuesday evening, instructing Rabri Devi to vacate the bungalow at 10, Circular Road. Following this, she has been allotted a new official residence at 39, Harding Park.
RJD leaders and family members have reacted strongly. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, took to social media platform X, criticizing the Nitish Kumar government. She wrote, “Sushasan Babu’s development model. Insulting Lalu Prasad Yadav, the messiah of crores of poor people, is the first priority. You may throw him out of the house, but how will you remove him from the hearts of Bihar’s people? If not his health, you should have at least respected Lalu Prasad Yadav’s political stature.”
Responding to RJD’s objections, JD(U) leaders defended the government’s move. JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar accused Lalu Prasad Yadav of being trapped in “a web of illusions,” claiming it had led to scams and imprisonment, and that the current matter concerns merely the allocation of a government bungalow. JD(U) National Spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan added that the reallocation follows established norms, saying, “This is a prescribed procedure. The Central Government allocates residences according to position. For Rabri Devi, a new residence has been allotted.”
Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad criticized the Nitish Kumar government for targeting opposition leaders, saying the move is politically motivated and undermines democratic norms.
The dispute over the official residence has added a new dimension to Bihar politics, highlighting tensions between the ruling JD(U) and opposition parties, and sparking debates over political symbolism, protocol, and the treatment of former Chief Ministers.
