Chief Minister-In 24 Mw Tuirini Hydro Electricity Power Thawhna Sum Tumtu Tur Bank Te Kawm
Aizawl, Dec 2025: Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma met officials from the New Development Bank (NDB), India, at his office to discuss funding arrangements for the upcoming Tuirini Hydro Electric Power (HEP) Project. The NDB delegation was accompanied by Pu F. Rodingliana, Minister for Power & Electricity (P&E), along with senior officials from the department.
The Tuirini HEP is designed to generate 24 megawatts of electricity and requires an estimated ₹676 crore for implementation. The State Government plans to secure the project’s funding through a loan from the New Development Bank, Shanghai.
To initiate the project, an Empowered Committee has already been constituted, followed by the process of selecting a Project Management Consultancy. These steps are currently progressing efficiently. Once finalised and with the support of the Central Government, the tendering process will be able to move forward.
The Preliminary Project Report (PPR) was submitted to the Department of Economic Affairs in September 2024 and has already received approvals from the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), the Ministry of External Affairs, and NITI Aayog.
