PMGSY Transforms Development Landscape in MCB District

Raipur, Dec 2025: The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) has dramatically reshaped the development geography of MCB district, connecting remote villages with all-weather roads and boosting trade, education, health, and rural aspirations.

Previously, the district’s hilly, forested, and remote terrain caused chronic isolation. Villages were often cut off during the rainy season, leaving patients, students, and farmers struggling.

With PMGSY, most villages in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur are now connected by paved roads. The network is more than concrete and asphalt—it is a lifeline for rural development, enhancing livelihoods, safety, and mobility. Small vehicles, ambulances, and agricultural transport can now reach these villages even in monsoons.

Economic Boost for Farmers: Farmers now transport crops via tractors, pickups, and mini trucks instead of bullock carts, reducing losses and transportation costs. Paddy, millet, maize, vegetables, and minor forest produce reach markets efficiently, increasing farmers’ incomes.

Improved Health Services: Earlier, it took hours to reach hospitals. Now, 108 ambulances reach homes directly. Institutional deliveries, vaccinations, nutrition programs, and access to district hospitals have improved. Primary health centers and mobile medical units are more accessible.

Enhanced Education: Children in remote villages can attend school even in rains, reducing dropouts. School buses, vans, and autos now reach all areas. Teachers reach schools on time, and students can commute for higher education.

New Employment and Opportunities: PMGSY road construction has generated thousands of jobs. Local businesses, transport services, and tourism-related opportunities have grown. Improved access to tourist spots benefits local guides and accommodations, strengthening the rural economy.

Administrative Oversight: The administration ensures quality construction through continuous inspection, testing, and review. Road bases, side drains, CC structures, bridges, safety signs, and reflectors are built to standards. Citizens’ complaints are addressed promptly, ensuring long-lasting, durable roads.
