Unveiling of “Zebru” Mascot for Road Safety Awareness
Nagpur, December 2025: From a road safety perspective, the unveiling of the “Zebru” mascot is a significant step by the Transport Department. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence that this mascot will make the road safety awareness campaign more effective in preventing accidents.
The Transport Department organized the unveiling ceremony of the “Zebru” mascot for road safety awareness at the Ministerial Council Hall in the Legislature, conducted by Chief Minister Fadnavis.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, Public Works Minister Shivendrasinh Raje Bhosale, Minister of State for Transport Madhuri Misal, Transport Department’s Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Sethi, and Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar, among others.
Chief Minister Fadnavis highlighted that with increasing urbanization, the number of vehicles on the roads is rising daily. To prevent accidents, the state government is raising awareness about traffic rules through road safety campaigns. The government aims to make citizens “traffic literate” to ensure accidents are minimized. The unveiling of the mascot is a direct outcome of this campaign, with coordinated efforts across various departments to implement preventive measures.
The Chief Minister urged citizens to follow traffic rules and actively participate in road safety initiatives, emphasizing the mantra: “Road Safety, Life Safety.”
In his opening remarks, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik stated that the “Zebru” mascot carries an important message about road safety. The campaign will prioritize pedestrian rights and will be implemented across the state. “Zebru” is intended to become the living spirit of road safety. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the Urban Development Department to create regulations to remove encroachments from footpaths without removing railings, and the concerned departments will take necessary action accordingly.
During the event, the “Zebru” mascot was officially unveiled, and distinguished attendees were presented with a token of appreciation featuring the mascot. Officials from the Transport Department were also present.
