Infrastructure Cabinet Committee Meeting; Measures to Ease Traffic Congestion on Hadapsar–Yewat Road
Nagpur, December 2025: The revised alignment of the 204-kilometer Nagpur–Chandrapur high-speed expressway, prepared based on instructions received from the Central Government’s GatiShakti portal, has been approved in the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The meeting also approved the extension of development timelines for private land parcels in Mumbai, including Ghatkopar East, Chembur, Andheri (West), Ambivali Mudrankar Nagar, and Chunabhatti.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Public Works Minister Shivendrasinh Bhosale, and Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal.
Chief Minister Fadnavis stated that with the rapid pace of urbanization, resolving traffic congestion in cities remains a government priority. Various measures should be implemented to address traffic congestion on the Hadapsar–Yewat route in Pune district. While doing so, care must be taken to ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience. The road on this route will be upgraded to a high-speed expressway. Immediate measures should also be taken to resolve traffic bottlenecks near Bhairoba Nala.
Fadnavis further directed that all ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects in the state must obtain approval through the GatiShakti portal. Only after receiving GatiShakti approval should projects be brought before the committee. The presentation at the meeting was made by Additional Chief Secretary (Public Works) Manisha Mhaiskar. Other attendees included Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O.P. Gupta, Principal Secretary (Planning) Saurabh Vijay, Principal Secretary (Law & Judiciary) Suvarna Kevle, and Managing Director of MahaMetro Shravan Hardikar.
Changes in Nagpur–Chandrapur Expressway After Revised Alignment
The expressway will run from Seldoha Interchange on the Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg to Navegaon (Mor) on the Durg–Hyderabad highway, covering a length of 192 kilometers. Additionally, an 11-kilometer Chandrapur link road will remain as per the previous alignment. The revised alignment, therefore, covers a total of 204 kilometers. This revision will save 27 hectares of forest land acquisition.
