Aastha Residential School, Dantewada – A Ray of Hope for Young Lives
A safe future shaped with sensitivity
Raipur, December 2025 : Aastha Residential School, located in South Bastar Dantewada, is writing a new chapter in the lives of children who were once deprived of education due to Maoist violence, insecurity, and poverty. This institution not only provides a safe environment to orphaned and destitute children but also makes unique efforts to transform them into capable, self-reliant, and responsible citizens. This blend of sensitivity and modern education has now become the identity of the district.
Foundation of Aastha – Beginning of a Journey of Transformation
Aastha Residential School began in 2007–08 as a Gurukul Residential School at the district headquarters. What started with limited resources has steadily expanded and taken the form of the modern Jawanga Education City. Children are selected for admission by a district-level committee headed by the District Collector, ensuring that only eligible and truly needy children are admitted. This process guarantees that every child not only receives education but also the safe, sensitive, and inspiring environment they need most.
Modern Facilities and a Secure Environment
Over time, Jawanga Education City has developed into a state-of-the-art learning centre, designed for the holistic growth of children. The expansive and secure campus, modern classrooms, well-organised library, computer lab, and sports grounds are among its key features. Activities such as music and yoga promote mental balance and physical development. Full-time hostel wardens ensure the safety and care of children, allowing them to feel the warmth of a family. Every child studying here develops the confidence that they are safe and being looked after with sincerity.
Continued Efforts Towards Holistic Life-Building
The institution’s primary goal is not just academic teaching but also imparting the values of a disciplined and balanced life. Nutritious food, timely healthcare services, clean uniforms, and all daily necessities are provided, enabling children to study without worry and focus on fulfilling their dreams. This environment instils self-reliance and helps them believe that despite hardships, they can achieve their goals.
Skill Development – Nurturing Talent and Potential
Skill development is an integral part of education at Aastha Residential School. Through computer education, multimedia training, arts and crafts, physical education, and various sports activities, children get opportunities to explore and showcase their talents. Educational tours and cultural programmes build confidence and enrich their personality. Special activities organized during leisure time connect children with new experiences that play an important role in shaping their future.
Health Protection – The Message of ‘Healthy Body, Healthy Mind’
Children’s health is a top priority at the school. Under the “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind” initiative, regular health check-ups, medical examinations, and necessary treatments are provided. The objective is to ensure that children remain not only academically strong but also physically healthy and active. The school faithfully follows the principle that a healthy mind can develop only in a healthy body.
Success Stories – Pride of the District
Aastha Residential School has produced many inspiring success stories. In 2024–25, two talented Class 9 students, Ravindra Netam and Shreyansh Bhaskar, were selected for the prestigious Prayas Residential School of the state. This achievement is a testament not only to the school’s quality education but also to the hard work and strong determination of the children. In the current academic session 2025–26, 100 boys and 100 girls are studying here, benefitting from this powerful initiative and moving confidently towards a bright future.
Essence of Aastha – When Given Opportunity, Children Can Change the Future
Aastha Residential School stands as a living example of the fact that with sensitivity and proper guidance, any child can rise above their circumstances and create their own identity. The institution is not just a school but a new ray of hope for children who were once far from education and safety. Every child who graduates from here carries forward the message that with the right opportunities, children can transform not only their own lives but also the future of society.
