Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin Resigns Following BJP Appointment
Patna, Dec 2025 : Newly appointed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Working President Nitin Nabin resigned from his ministerial responsibilities in the Bihar government on Tuesday, stepping down from the Road Construction and Urban Development portfolios.
Nitin Nabin submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for approval. Once the Chief Minister consents, the resignation will be formally accepted by Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. The move aligns with the BJP’s “one person, one post” policy, ensuring that party office-bearers focus on organisational duties without holding government portfolios simultaneously.
The resignation follows Nitin Nabin’s recent appointment as the National Working President of the BJP on Sunday, December 14, and he formally assumed office in New Delhi on Monday, December 15.
Nitin Nabin, a seasoned politician, was recently re-elected for the fifth consecutive term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Bankipur constituency in Patna during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. He initially entered the Bihar Assembly in 2006 from Patna West and later represented Bankipur from 2010 onwards.
Since his induction into the Bihar cabinet in 2021, Nitin Nabin has managed the Road Construction Department, earning widespread recognition for his performance. Over the years, he remained a key minister in successive NDA governments, contributing both administratively and politically. Following his resignation, the Road Construction and Urban Development portfolios are expected to be reassigned to other BJP legislators.
Apart from his governmental responsibilities, Nitin Nabin has played a significant role in strengthening the BJP’s organisational structure. From 2010 to 2013, he served as National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), and from 2016 to 2019, he held the position of Bihar State President of BJYM. He has also been a member of the BJP’s National Executive Committee and co-in-charge of the party’s youth wing.
Recognised for his organisational skills, Nitin Nabin has successfully overseen party operations and election management in multiple states. His strategic efforts helped the BJP secure its first two MLAs in Sikkim, highlighting his effective leadership and election acumen.
In addition to his domestic political experience, Nitin Nabin has gained international exposure, having participated in a 15-day International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) in the United States. Over the years, he has organised several major party programmes, further enhancing his political and organisational credentials.
With this transition, Nitin Nabin is expected to devote his full attention to strengthening the BJP at the national level, focusing on youth engagement, organisational expansion, and election preparedness.
