She said that her 10-month-old government has implemented several important decisions related to the industrial sector, including simplification of licensing processes and the single window system. Union Minister of State Mr Harsh Malhotra, Delhi Cabinet Minister Mr Manjinder Singh Sirsa, MLAs Mr Anil Goyal and Mr Sanjay Goyal, and several eminent personalities from the industry were present at the special programme. The Chief Minister described industry as the cornerstone of India’s development and said that running an industry is not just about setting up a business, but an important task of strengthening the country’s economy and providing employment to millions of families. She said the Delhi government is making serious efforts to promote and sustain industry in the capital. For this, continuous practical and industry-friendly decisions are being taken to further strengthen Ease of Doing Business. She added that her government has implemented several key measures such as simplifying licensing procedures and ensuring that industries do not face difficulties from government departments. Besides this, all permissions have been made easier through the single window system.

The Chief Minister also said that Delhi’s first Traders Welfare Board has been established for traders, through which industry and business communities will be able to directly convey their problems and suggestions to the government. She informed that the approval period for green category industries has been reduced from 120 days to 20 days, and if permission is not granted within 20 days, it will be deemed as self-permission. A collateral-free loan of up to Rs 10 crore has also been made available for micro and small enterprises. Instructions have also been issued to the GST department to adopt faceless operations and speed up the refund process, as a result of which Delhi traders have received GST refunds worth Rs 915 crore in the last four months.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the dignity and social security of workers, saying that workers are the backbone of industry. She thanked Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi for implementing new labour laws that will provide social security to workers. She assured that her government is working with full dedication and commitment round the clock to develop the capital into a developed Delhi. On the occasion, she inspected stalls set up by various industries and gathered detailed information about the products and services displayed.

On this occasion, Industry Minister Mr Manjinder Singh Sirsa said it is a matter of pride and happiness that this historic industrial area of Delhi has completed 100 years of a successful journey. At the time of its establishment, there were only 80 factories, while today around 2,000 units are operating here. The area has always been at the forefront in following environmental standards, whether it is ETP or the establishment of common ETPs, for which the traders deserve appreciation. He said that for several decades, industrial areas in Delhi were neglected in terms of infrastructure, but this situation is changing under the leadership of Chief Minister Mrs Rekha Gupta. In the very first year of her tenure, the Chief Minister has approved more than Rs 1,000 crore for roads, storm water drainage and street lights in industrial areas. This is a historic and far-sighted step taken after the last 20–25 years, which will give a new direction to Delhi’s industrial capacity. Mr Sirsa also informed that three new industrial areas are going to be launched in Delhi in the coming time, which will generate employment for lakhs of people.
