SP Reviews Police Deployment for Christmas in Lunglei
Lunglei, December 2025: Lunglei District Superintendent of Police J. Lalmuankima reviewed the police duty arrangements put in place to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the district during the Christmas celebrations of 2025. The review meeting was held at his office.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP K. Beihmotaosa, along with designated zonal and sector officers and other police officials. Reports were received from the zonal and sector officers, and discussions were also held on plans for the continuation of duties during the New Year period.
It was informed during the meeting that no untoward incidents were reported in Lunglei district during the 2025 Christmas celebrations. Christmas was observed in a calm and peaceful environment, and no motor accident cases were reported either. The low number of cases registered during the festive period was attributed to public cooperation as well as the effective performance of the police, including zonal officers, sector officers, and personnel on duty.
The Lunglei police authorities informed that since government offices will remain closed from December 31, 2025, to January 4, 2026, office in-charges have been instructed to ensure proper security of office buildings and surrounding premises during this period. They were also advised to keep office verandas well lit at night. The public has been appealed to avoid bursting firecrackers or using fireworks during New Year’s Eve celebrations.
It was further discussed that the prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate regarding fireworks and firecrackers must be strictly enforced. Police and traffic personnel have been instructed to remain fully alert and continue their duties diligently throughout the New Year period, with regular patrolling and strict vigilance to maintain law and order.
