Use Advanced Equipment for Rescue Operations – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

Mumbai : Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today approved 1,950 different projects worth ₹2,766 crores, which include effective measures to prevent natural disasters. The approved works include landslide prevention, lightning protection, flood protection walls, construction of small bridges, deepening of streams, groundwater recharge for drought relief, lake repairs, and afforestation. Additionally, a decision was made to upgrade the State Emergency Response Center in the Ministry.

The meeting, held in the Ministry’s Cabinet Room, was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Minister of Relief and Rehabilitation Anil Patil, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, and Principal Secretary of the Relief and Rehabilitation Department, Sonia Sethi, among others.

Chief Minister Shinde emphasized that there will be no shortage of funds for measures aimed at preventing natural disasters. Given the top priority to citizens’ safety, he instructed that these disaster prevention works be completed on time and with quality. He also directed the use of advanced technology-equipped tools and equipment that will be useful in rescue operations during disasters.

The State Emergency Response Center in the Ministry will be upgraded using advanced equipment. Furthermore, connectivity to this center will be provided to every District Collector. Each district’s Emergency Response Center will also be upgraded, with a fund of ₹100 crores allocated for this purpose.

During the meeting, approval was also given for the State Landslide Management Plan, the Village Panchayat Disaster Management Plan, the Maharashtra State Heat Action Plan, as well as the work of the Palghar-Vasai underground power line.
