134 Rehabilitated Youths Undertake Educational Tour on Organic Farming and Tourism Sites
Raipur, January 2026 – In a step aimed at integrating rehabilitated youth into the mainstream of society and making them self-reliant, the Chhattisgarh government, under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, has been continuously implementing developmental initiatives. In line with this, the District Project Livelihoods College Society in Dantewada organized a one-day educational, agricultural, and tourism tour for 134 rehabilitated youths.
The initiative comes after the beneficiaries expressed their desire to gain hands-on exposure to agriculture and tourism sectors before the district administration. Responding to this request, and under the initiative of Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, the district administration organized the tour to provide youth with practical knowledge and introduce them to new livelihood opportunities.
Learning Advanced Organic Farming Techniques
During the tour, officials and staff from the Agriculture Department, along with coordinators from the Bhumgadi Organic Cluster, guided the youth through modern and practical methods of organic farming. Under the supervision of Livelihood College trainers, the participants learned techniques to achieve higher crop yields at lower costs without chemical fertilizers, ways to conserve natural resources, and strategies for marketing organic products effectively.
Exposure to Tourism and New Livelihood Opportunities
In addition to agricultural training, the youth were taken on a tour of the district’s major tourism sites. They were introduced to potential opportunities in local tourism, including homestays, guide services, handicrafts, and local products as avenues for employment generation. This exposure aimed to broaden their understanding of income-generation possibilities beyond traditional farming.
Request for Specialized Residential Training
Motivated by the educational tour, the rehabilitated youth collectively requested the Livelihood College administration to organize two- to three-day specialized residential agricultural training programs. They expressed that such in-depth training would enable them to implement advanced organic farming techniques in their villages after returning home, ensuring sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment.
The district administration appreciated this proactive initiative by the beneficiaries and assured that future skill development and self-employment training programs would be further strengthened to support their socio-economic empowerment and long-term development.
This program is part of the government’s ongoing efforts under the National Rehabilitation and Livelihood Development initiatives to equip rehabilitated youth with practical skills, enhance employability, and ensure their smooth reintegration into society while promoting sustainable and modern agricultural practices.
