Public Works Department embodies pledge of serving every citizen through creation & development: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that on the strength of engineers’ capabilities, the state envisions the dream of a developed and self-reliant India by the year 2047, in line with the vision of PM Shri Narendra Modi. He said that the Public Works Department (PWD), true to its name—Lok meaning people and Nirman meaning creation, is translating the pledge of serving every citizen into reality. He said, “The Prime Minister, while being a statesman, is also working with the spirit of a sage to advance India’s progress and capacity building.”

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Public Works Department has the potential to take development works to new heights. Referring to India’s rich civilisational heritage, he noted that during the era of Lord Shri Ram, Nal and Neel devised the technique to construct a bridge across the sea, and after the victory of Lanka, Lord Shri Ram, Mata Sita and Lakshman returned to Ayodhya in the Pushpak Viman. Lord Vishwakarma created the Pushpak Viman with the capacity to accommodate all, symbolising inclusive development and collective welfare. He said that even today, construction works are being carried out with the same objective of ensuring convenience for all and providing opportunities for progress in every walk of life. The Public Works Department of Madhya Pradesh, by adopting new technologies and optimally utilising time, is accelerating infrastructure development.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed a state-level event-cum-training session at Ravindra Bhavan, focused on innovations of the Public Works Department, its digital initiatives and capacity building of engineers on Saturday.

Lokpath 2.0 to Assist with Route Planning, Black Spot Alerts and Roadside Facilities

At the start of the event, organised to translate public works into public welfare, Vande Mataram was sung collectively in the presence of the Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. He inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. On his arrival, he was welcomed by tribal artists with auspicious songs played on traditional instruments. He was felicitated with an angavastram, a statue of Samrat Vikramaditya, and a tulsi sapling.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav released the Capacity Building Framework–2026, developed by the Public Works Department to guide engineers in training, skill upgradation and modern project management. He also launched the advanced version of the Lokpath mobile application, Lokpath 2.0. The app will provide citizens with a comprehensive, user-friendly and modern digital platform, offering services such as road maintenance monitoring, swift redressal of public grievances, route planning, black spot alerts, emergency SOS facilities, and information on roadside amenities.

Capacity Building Framework Includes Technical, Financial and Contract Management Training

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also released a booklet highlighting the innovations and reform-oriented initiatives undertaken by the Public Works Department over the past two years. The booklet presents insights into digital solutions, quality control, environmental conservation, new construction technologies and modern management systems. Short films based on the Capacity Building Framework, the Lokpath 2.0 app, and the department’s activities over the last two years were screened during the event. Management expert Dr. Vikrant Singh Tomar prepared a presentation on the Capacity Building Framework, focusing on technical training, project management, financial management and contract management.

Every Work of the Public Works Department Is for Public Welfare

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Indian tradition has a rich legacy of technology, knowledge and innovation. Ancient scriptures and cultural examples teach that with collective capability, intellect and dedication, even the impossible can be achieved. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi, today’s engineers are using modern technology to make public-interest works more effective. Engineers across the country are constructing sea bridges in Mumbai, tunnels through mountains, and highways that meet global standards in terms of technology and construction processes. In line with the Prime Minister’s intent, every work of the Public Works Department is aimed at public welfare. Roads, bridges, buildings and other structures, when built with quality, sensitivity and foresight, make public life simpler, safer and more convenient. He said the department’s innovations, adoption of modern technology and pace of execution demonstrate that PWD is moving forward with a new vision. He lauded the department’s efforts.

Engineers’ Role Is Extremely Important: Minister Shri Singh

Public Works Minister Shri Rakesh Singh said that the Public Works Department is not merely a department that constructs roads, bridges and buildings. It is the backbone of the state’s speed, direction and development. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, the department has translated the concept of “public works for public welfare” into practice, directly linking infrastructure development with everyday life. Roads built by the department connect farmers to markets, children to education, and patients to healthcare services and industries to investment opportunities. Therefore, the role of engineers in one of the country’s oldest and most important departments becomes extremely significant.

PWD to Emerge as a Hub of the Country’s Most Efficient Engineers in the Next Two Years

Minister Shri Singh said that with time, the nature of projects has evolved. To work with new technologies, materials and ideas, engineers must be technically proficient, mentally empowered and adept in management. Training programs have been designed as enabling tools with this objective. He said that as a result of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s initiative, the vision of a modern training and research institute for engineers is taking shape. This will enhance efficiency, save time and improve work–life balance. Referring to innovations such as Lokpath 2.0 and the Public Welfare Index, the minister said other states have expressed interest in adopting these initiatives. He added that under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Mission Karmayogi and the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, the state’s Public Works Department will become a collective of the country’s most efficient engineers within the next two years.
