Various competitions to be held during Poshan Jaagrati Maah, Amneet P. Kumar
Chandigarh – The Haryana Department of Women and Child Development will celebrate ‘Poshan Jaagrati Maah’ until September 10. During this period, the department will organise various activities including Poshan Seminar, speech contests, mehndi competitions, yoga sessions, nutritious meal competitions, millet-based recipe contests, and oath-taking ceremonies.
Sharing more details in this regard, Commissioner and Secretary of the department Smt. Amneet P. Kumar said that all District Program Officers, Women and Child Development Project Officers, and supervisors have been given directions to organise various competitions aimed at raising awareness during this month.
Director of the department, Smt. Monica Malik, said that in addition to the Poshan Maah, a state-level Jaagrati Maah is being organized to mobilise public engagement on a larger scale. This year’s Poshan Jaagrati Maah will be observed from August 8, 2024, to September 10, 2024. Activities will include competitions for healthy children, cooking contests to promote traditional food, cleanliness and tree planting campaigns (Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam), cultural and sports weeks for Anganwadi workers, and weekly awareness activities for identifying children with disabilities.
She further shared that during this month, health camps will be set up for children with disabilities, and their parents will be provided with advice on their needs. Anganwadi workers will also conduct special counselling sessions during home visits, providing mothers with advice on nutritious food, care, and nutrition for their children. Winners of the competitions held throughout the Poshan Jaagrati Maah will also be awarded, she informed.
