Pre-Budget Dialogue: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma Highlights Key Role of Farmers, Livestock Owners, and Dairy Sector in Rajasthan’s Economy

Jaipur, January 2026: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that farmers and livestock owners are the backbone of the state’s economy. He stated that the government is continuously taking initiatives to make them prosperous, self-reliant, and empowered. Highlighting the complementary nature of agriculture, livestock, and dairy sectors, the CM noted that these three areas play a critical role in realizing the vision of a leading Rajasthan.

The Chief Minister held a pre-budget dialogue at the CM Office with office-bearers of farmers, livestock owners, and dairy associations. He recalled that soon after forming the government, a roadmap for the state’s development was prepared, prioritizing irrigation and electricity for agriculture. Key projects such as the Ram Jal Setu Link Project, Yamuna Water Agreement, Indira Gandhi Canal Project, Ganganher, Mahi Dam, and Devas Project were advanced to ensure adequate water supply. Similarly, a target has been set to provide farmers with daytime electricity by 2027.

Additional Incentives for Farmers:

Under the Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi, farmers receive an additional ₹3,000 per year, supplementing the ₹6,000 under the central PM-Kisan scheme. So far, ₹2,073 crore has been distributed to 72 lakh farmers in four installments. The government has also sanctioned ₹921 crore for installing over 59,000 solar pumps and distributed 17.3 lakh soil health cards. 913 farmer producer organizations have been registered to directly connect farmers with exporters and retail groups. In the past two years, more than 35,000 farm ponds were constructed for rainwater harvesting with over ₹300 crore in grants, and 34,000 km of farm fencing has been provided grants totaling ₹377 crore.

Increasing Farmer Income and Global Recognition:

The CM emphasized that efforts are underway to increase farmers’ income and give their products better market access. Under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme-2024, agriculture and allied sectors receive incentives. 3,229 onion storage units were built with a grant of about ₹45 crore. Locally produced Sojat Mehndi and Nagauri Ashwagandha have received GI tags, while others like Nagauri Pan Methi, Kair, Sangri, Bikaneri Moth, Bara Garlic, and Marwari Kachri are in the GI process. He urged farmers to use chemical fertilizers judiciously to maintain soil fertility.

Empowering Livestock Owners:

The CM highlighted initiatives like the CM Mangla Pashu Bima Yojana, covering over 12 lakh animals with free insurance. Mobile veterinary services have treated nearly 60 lakh animals across 536 vehicles. Free medicines for livestock have increased from 138 to 200 types. Programs like Rajasthan Cooperative Gopal Credit Card Scheme and CM Dugdh Utpadak Sambal Yojana provide additional income, with over ₹1,300 crore disbursed to 5 lakh milk producers. Grants are also given to registered gaushalas, totaling ₹3,432 crore so far. Rajasthan received three national awards under the Gopal Ratna Award 2025.

Farmers, livestock owners, and dairy association officials thanked the CM for these initiatives and suggested measures like promoting low-cost, high-income crops, encouraging organic farming, and empowering women farmers. The CM assured that feasible suggestions would be considered in the upcoming state budget.

The meeting was attended by C.R. Chaudhary (Chairman, Rajasthan Kisan Aayog), senior officials from the Finance and Agriculture departments, and representatives from farmers, livestock, and dairy associations.
