Aizawl, January 2026: Minister of State for Sports & Youth Services, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, today felicitated K. Lalnunsanga during a special ceremony held at his office chamber at MINECO. On the occasion, the Minister also presented him with a cash award in recognition of his achievement.
K. Lalnunsanga, a resident of Electric Veng, Aizawl, secured second place overall in the Stock 130–165cc Novice Category of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) 2025, organised by MRF and the Madras Motorsports Club. The championship was held over five rounds between June 2025 and January 2026, comprising 10 races in total. Lalnunsanga finished first twice and second four times during the course of the championship.
Congratulating him, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar said that the government feels proud whenever its sportspersons achieve success, especially at the national level, as they bring recognition and honour to Mizoram. He said Lalnunsanga’s achievement at the national stage is a matter of great pride for the state.
The Minister also appreciated the leadership of the Mizoram MotorSports Association (MIMSA), stating that their dedication is commendable. He noted that motorsports is an expensive discipline, and despite budgetary constraints faced by the Mizoram State Sports Council, the association’s leaders continue to work tirelessly and deserve high praise.
Emphasising the need for further progress in sports, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar said that Mizoram has begun achieving notable success across various sporting disciplines, which is encouraging. However, he added that there is still a long way to go and higher goals must be pursued. He said that athletes who achieve such success also realise the importance of further improvement and continued training.
Dr. Lalhmuchhuaka, Vice President of the Mizoram State Sports Council, also spoke on the occasion. He stressed that leaders of sports associations should focus not on personal gain, but on guiding, supporting, and nurturing athletes so that they can achieve success and excellence.
During the event, Lalnunsanga shared his experiences from the championship and spoke about the challenges he faced during the competition. Representatives from MIMSA also expressed their gratitude to the Sports Minister for his encouragement, support, and concern for the development of motorsports in the state.
