State Government is increasing financial support, Sisters will be trained and linked to employment: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, continuous efforts are being made to develop the state. Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to work in mission mode on the four pillars of development—the poor, youth, food providers (farmers), and women (GYAN), with a focus on empowerment. The state government is consistently working toward women’s empowerment. On the occasion, an amount of ₹1,836 crore was transferred to the accounts of ‘Ladli Behna’ beneficiaries. By January 2026, a total of ₹50,000 crore will have been transferred to the accounts of beneficiary sisters.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed an event at Makhan Nagar (Babai), where amounts under the ‘Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna’ Yojana were disbursed, along with the ‘Bhoomi-Poojan’ and inauguration of various development projects. Benefits under several public welfare schemes were also distributed on the occasion. The Chief Minister transferred over ₹90 crore as a subsidy for gas cylinder refilling to 29 lakh eligible sisters under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala’ Yojana. He also performed the bhoomi-pujan and inauguration of development works worth ₹206 crore for the Sohagpur Assembly constituency, including the newly constructed Circuit House at Makhan Nagar.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav paid floral tribute at the statue of the renowned litterateur Pt. Makhanlal Chaturvedi and hoisted the national flag at the main square, saluting it to the tune of the National Anthem. He said that the poetry of Pt. Makhanlal Chaturvedi carried such inspirational fervour that even Mahatma Gandhi visited Babai to pay homage at his birthplace. The Chief Minister also visited development exhibitions set up by various departments at the venue.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the 32nd instalment of the ‘Ladli Behna’ Yojana has been transferred to the accounts of over 1.25 crore sisters. He stated that when money reaches women’s hands, they prioritise the welfare of the entire family, often placing themselves last. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said the state government is gradually increasing the assistance amount under the ‘Ladli Behna’ Yojana. The government will also support sisters with ₹5,000 for employment-linked industrial work. Women are being given an additional 2 per cent concession on property registration.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that mulberry silk from Narmadapuram is well known, and that the establishment of thread-manufacturing units has enabled 50 sisters to become ‘Lakhpatis’. The state government has declared 2026 as ‘Farmer Welfare Year’, during which agriculture will be linked with employment and industry. Sisters will be trained and connected with self-help groups. Farmers are being ensured fair prices for wheat, paddy and pulses.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that 1,000 acres of land in the Babai–Mohasa industrial area have already been allotted and work is underway to allot an additional 400 acres for industrial purposes. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, development works across all sectors are being accelerated. He said that by 2047, all efforts will be focused on making India a developed nation and the world’s leading country. Referring to a recent incident involving contaminated water in Indore, the Chief Minister said the government responded with sensitivity and took action against the responsible officials.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s Key Announcements

  • The Bagra–Sakha Hoj irrigation project covering 42,000 hectares will be launched.
  • A new bridge over the Tawa River will be constructed at a cost of ₹122 crore, directly connecting Babai–Sohagpur with Itarsi.
  • The road from Narmadapuram to Babai, Sohagpur, Pipariya, and Bankhedi will be upgraded to four lanes.
  • Additional classrooms will be constructed for a college in Makhan Nagar.
  • An SDM building in Sohagpur and a new Tehsil building in Makhan Nagar will be constructed.
  • Makhan Nagar will get a new fire brigade.
  • A large gaushala with a capacity of over 5,000 cattle will be built on 154 acres in Makhan Nagar.
  • A sports stadium in Makhan Nagar and a new college in Sohagpur will be established.

Citizens Welcome the Chief Minister During Roadshow

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav conducted a roadshow in Makhan Nagar, greeting citizens while travelling in an open vehicle along the main routes. At various points along the route, residents welcomed him with flower showers.

Regional MP Shri Darshan Singh Choudhary said that under Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s leadership, Madhya Pradesh has witnessed all-round development. In the Sohagpur Assembly constituency alone, 35 development works worth over ₹206 crore were inaugurated and for 58 project, Bhoomi-Poojan was performed. In Narmadapuram, a Tehsil office worth ₹11 crore, a rest house in Makhan Nagar, rural roads, and hospital buildings in Seoni Malwa were inaugurated. A new Polytechnic College will also be established in Narmadapuram.

MLA Shri Vijay Pal Singh stated that the Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has gifted a new industrial area of over 200 acres at Babai–Mohasa. Farmers are also benefiting from solar pump schemes. Residents of Sohagpur are receiving benefits from multiple development projects, and Semri has been declared a Gokul Gram. Several public representatives were present at the ‘Ladli Behna Sammelan’.

Beneficiary Smt. Rakhi Dubey thanked the Chief Minister, saying that the ₹1,500 assistance received under the ‘Ladli Behna’ Yojana helps women meet daily household needs, making life easier.

Another beneficiary Smt. Suman Yadav said  that the financial assistance has strengthened women economically, helping them manage small household expenses. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister.

Welcoming Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav to Makhan Nagar, beneficiary Smt. Hemlata Sirke said she purchased a sewing machine with the assistance received under the Ladli Behna Yojana, enabling her to take better care of her children. Smt. Hemlata further said that with the monthly assistance, she has started tailoring and beauty parlour work and is able to pay her children’s school fees, leading a life of dignity.

Beneficiary Smt. Tara Mehra said the ₹1,500 monthly assistance supports her family and helps her continue tailoring work, for which she expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister.

‘Ladli Behna’ beneficiary from Makhan Nagar, Smt. Sangeeta Jat said that the instalments under the scheme have improved her financial condition, for which she expressed heartfelt thanks to the Chief Minister.
