DoNER Secretary Inspects Kawlri Tlang Cultural Heritage Centre in Serchhip

January, 2026 : Secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Pu Chanchal Kumar, today visited Serchhip and inspected the under-construction Cultural Heritage Centre at Kawlri Tlang.

The Kawlri Tlang Cultural Heritage Centre is being constructed under the initiative of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Lalduhoma, who is also the MLA of the Serchhip constituency. The project is funded under the North Eastern Council (NEC). Construction work began in September 2024 and is planned to be completed by early this year. The total project cost is ₹4.31 crore, and the work is being executed by Excell Consultancy Services under the Public Works Department (PWD). As of now, 65 percent of the work has been completed.

During the visit, the DoNER Secretary inspected the site in detail and instructed the contractor to complete the work as expeditiously as possible. He also assured that there is no funding constraint from the Ministry. In addition to the original plan, he suggested the inclusion of a trekking route.

The DoNER Secretary was accompanied by UD&PA Secretary Pu Lalmalsawma, Serchhip Deputy Commissioner Pu Paul L. Khuma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pu Lalrinzuala, and other officials.
