BMC Victory Reflects Mandate for Development and Mumbai’s Identity: BJP’s Ameet Satam

Mumbai, Jan 2026 : Mumbai BJP chief and legislator Ameet Satam on Friday described the BJP-led Mahayuti’s victory in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections as a decisive win for Marathi pride as well as for the people of Mumbai. He said the mandate reflects public faith in the development-oriented leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Addressing reporters, Satam said the result was not merely an electoral success but a validation of the transformative changes witnessed by Mumbai in recent years. “This is a victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the revolutionary transformation brought to Mumbai under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. It is also a tribute to the tireless efforts of BJP workers who stood firmly with the people,” he said.

Satam emphasised that voters had decisively rejected attempts to undermine Mumbai’s cultural and social fabric. “Mumbaikars have clearly understood the conspiracies that are seen in some international cities and have defeated all forces that were trying to change the colour and character of Mumbai. This is a victory of Hindutva and a victory of Mumbai’s identity,” he asserted.

Recalling the role played by BJP workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, Satam said the party’s grassroots cadre risked their lives to serve citizens during the crisis. “During the pandemic, BJP workers worked relentlessly to help Mumbaikars in their hour of need. Fifty-six of our workers sacrificed their lives while serving society. This historic victory is dedicated to those brave karyakartas,” he said.

The Mumbai BJP chief also expressed gratitude to the party’s national leadership for their guidance and support throughout the election campaign. He thanked BJP National President J.P. Nadda, National Working President Nitin Nabin, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Organisation General Secretary B.L. Santhosh and National Co-Organisation General Secretary Shiv Prakash. “Their vision and direction strengthened the organisation and inspired our workers at every level,” Satam said.

Looking ahead, Satam reaffirmed the Mahayuti’s commitment to clean governance and rapid development in Mumbai. He said the alliance would focus on ensuring a corruption-free administration in the BMC, accelerating infrastructure projects and safeguarding the city’s security. “In the coming years, the BJP-led Mahayuti will work with full dedication to develop Mumbai as a modern, secure and inclusive global city,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis termed the BJP–Shiv Sena alliance’s performance in the BMC elections a “massive mandate for development.” Speaking to reporters at the state BJP headquarters after joining celebrations over the party’s strong showing in Mumbai and across Maharashtra, Fadnavis said the results reflected overwhelming public support for the issues raised by the alliance.

“The people have responded decisively to the agenda on which we contested the municipal elections. Therefore, our future course will remain firmly centred on development,” the Chief Minister said. He added that the victory would be dedicated to bringing meaningful change in the lives of the poor and the middle class through sustained development and improved civic services.

The celebrations at the BJP headquarters were attended by state BJP president Ravindra Chavan and Mumbai BJP president Ameet Satam, among other senior leaders and party workers. The atmosphere reflected confidence within the alliance that the civic mandate would pave the way for faster growth, better governance and a renewed focus on transforming Mumbai and other urban centres across Maharashtra.
