Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Launches ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign in ThaneChief Minister Directs All Municipalities to Plant One Lakh Trees

Thane : Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed all Municipal Corporations in the state to plant one lakh trees within their respective areas. In response, these municipalities have already begun their tree-planting initiatives. At the launch of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign in Thane today, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of tree plantation for future environmental conservation.

The Chief Minister urged citizens to participate in the campaign by planting a tree in honor of their mothers, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.

In collaboration with Thane Municipal Corporation, the Maharashtra Forest Department, Green Yatra, and Tata Consultancy Services, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde officially launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign at Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Lokmanya Nagar, under the broader ‘Chief Minister Harit Thane Ek Laksh Vriksha Kaltan’ initiative. He spoke during the tree plantation event.

Notable attendees included Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, MP Naresh Mhaske, MLA Pratap Sarnaik, Additional Commissioner Sandeep Malvi, Deputy Commissioner Shankar Patole, Deputy Director of Sanjay Gandhi National Park Uday Dhage, Senior Park Superintendent Kedar Patil, and former corporator Hanmant Jagdale. Representatives from Green Yatra, including Eknath Bhoir, Digambar Thakur, Vihang Sarnaik, Radhabai Jadwar, Asha Dongre, Vanita Ghogre, and Namrata Bhosle, also participated.

The Chief Minister commended Thane Municipal Corporation, particularly Commissioner Saurabh Rao, for leading the way by planting 61,000 trees, the highest number in the state so far.

Additionally, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the “Chief Minister – Majhi Ladki Baheen” scheme is receiving an enthusiastic response across the state. The first two installments of the scheme have already been deposited into the accounts of women beneficiaries. In celebration of Raksha Bandhan, women from Lokmanya Nagar expressed their gratitude by tying rakhis to the Chief Minister in recognition of his efforts to support women through this scheme.
