Langar Service Spreads the Message of Service, Equality and Brotherhood; Lakhs of Devotees Benefit at ‘Hind-di-Chadar’ Programme
Nanded, January 2026 : At the grand religious and historical ‘Hind-di-Chadar’ programme being organised in Nanded on the occasion of the 350th Shaheedi Samagam (martyrdom anniversary) of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Langar service is presenting a remarkable example of selfless service, equality and humanity. Free community meals served to thousands of devotees without any discrimination of religion, caste, language or region have emerged as the true soul of the programme.
Devotees from various districts of Maharashtra as well as several other states are participating in the Hind-di-Chadar programme. Langar service is being provided through eight specially erected pandals adjacent to the main venue. Langar is not merely a food arrangement, but a proud tradition that conveys the values of human equality and selfless service. Based on the principle that “all human beings are equal,” this service is being organised on a large scale during the Hind-di-Chadar programme, benefiting lakhs of devotees, saints, citizens, volunteers and guests.
A Sacrificial Spirit of Volunteers
Along with members of the Sikh community, various social organisations, youths, women and volunteers are participating enthusiastically in the Langar service. From chopping vegetables, preparing rotis, cooking food, maintaining cleanliness to serving devotees in rows, every task is performed with the spirit of “service is worship.” Many volunteers have been rendering uninterrupted service from early morning till late night with great dedication.
Living Example of Equality
There is no distinction of rich or poor, men or women, young or old in the Langar. Everyone sits together on the ground and partakes of the same meal, offering devotees a living experience of social equality.
Efficient Management
With coordinated efforts of the district administration, municipal corporation and voluntary organisations, the Langar service has been meticulously planned. Special attention has been given to cleanliness, availability of safe drinking water and health monitoring, ensuring a smooth and dignified experience for all devotees.
