Election Commission To Announce Schedule For Assembly Polls

The Election Commission will announce the schedule for upcoming assembly elections on Friday. The announcement is expected to include the election dates for Jammu and Kashmir as well as Haryana.

The Election Commission will hold a press conference this afternoon in New Delhi to provide details. Recently, the Commission conducted visits to Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana to assess the preparedness for the assembly polls. The Supreme Court had earlier directed the Election Commission to hold assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir by September this year, while the current term of the 90-member Haryana assembly is set to end on 3rd November 2024.

Assembly elections are also approaching in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. The current term of the Maharashtra Assembly will conclude on 26th November this year, and the term of the Jharkhand Assembly will end on 5th January next year.
