Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service has been launched in the interest of citizens of the state. The State Transport Corporation was closed in the state in 2005. From September 25, the birth anniversary of nationalist thinker Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay, operation of 351 intercity and intracity buses under Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service has been started across the state, which will be continuously expanded. The target is to operate 14,981 buses over the next five years. Previously operated fit buses are also being used under this service. Therefore, no one, including citizens, should believe misleading information.
CM Dr. Yadav was giving instructions through video conference to Collectors and Superintendents of Police of districts regarding development of necessary facilities for citizens' convenience under Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service at Mantralaya.
CM Dr. Yadav said that all necessary steps should be taken by the local administration to ensure that passengers benefit from organised bus operations under this facility launched as part of Seva Sankalp Month in the state. Necessary support should be provided to citizens and bus operators at the administrative level in the concerned districts. With the state-wide expansion of the service, the administrative machinery in all districts will play an alert and proactive role for the convenience of citizens. Field staff should adopt a cooperative approach on routes where buses are currently being operated.
CM Dr. Yadav said that wherever bus depots or terminals are lying closed, they should be made useful by conducting cleanliness campaigns and developing seating and other facilities. Where bus stops or bus stands have ceased to exist, this facility should be developed by making land available. Priority should be given to the organised and disciplined operation of buses running apart from those covered by permits. Regular inspections should be arranged through magistrates and police officers regarding fitness of private bus operators, permit conditions, and the operation of buses and conduct of drivers. The local administration should cooperate with regional companies in developing necessary infrastructure in cities. CM Dr. Yadav said that the cooperation of police stations and traffic police should be ensured for uninterrupted operation of buses. Regular meetings of the District-Level Transport Advisory Committee should also be held. The District Collector should also discuss with the ED of the regional company every week during the TL meeting. The State Transport Undertaking should also ensure action for presenting routes and obtaining suggestions before all District-Level Transport Advisory Committees. Necessary mutual dialogue should be maintained among all agencies in the interest of the general public.
Transport Minister Shri Uday Pratap Singh said that necessary incentives are being provided to private bus operators to ensure that maximum citizens benefit from Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service. Necessary arrangements should also be made by the administration based on suggestions received from passengers.
Chief Secretary Shri Ashok Barnwal said that Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service is an ambitious scheme of the Madhya Pradesh Government. To provide better facilities to passengers in the transport sector, the administration should maintain regular dialogue with bus operators. Various misconceptions should be dispelled. Previously operated fit buses are being operated under the service. Several modern technologies have also been adopted, under which passengers can better plan their journey through the passenger app.
Transport Secretary Shri Manish Singh said in his presentation that the three major pillars of Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service are bus operations, Intelligent Transport Management System and infrastructure. The number of buses currently put into operation will be continuously increased. While benefiting passengers, care has also been taken to ensure that private operators receive legitimate returns for their work and business. An office has been arranged in Bhopal for the State Transport Undertaking. Within the next three months, 100 percent office buildings will be made available for regional subsidiary companies in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain and Sagar. Along with this, arrangements are also being made for office buildings for regional subsidiary companies in Jabalpur, Rewa and Gwalior.
Of the total 1,190 posts required for Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service, the recruitment process for 400 posts will also be completed. Specialist posts will also be filled. Based on the assessment carried out in the state during the last 10 months through passenger numbers and route surveys, and the estimated number of buses required, 13,006 buses are to be arranged on 3,636 routes across seven regions of the state. The expansion will also be carried out in phases. By 2031, the state will achieve the target of operating 14,981 buses. The state-level ITMS platform is a special facility. Required modules have been determined by using ITMS on an interim basis under Chalo Mobility. Transport Secretary Shri Manish Singh also gave information about important points related to infrastructure development for smooth bus operations.
