New Delhi, October 2026 : The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Nagaland, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra and the National Capital Territory of Delhi, extending key deadlines to provide voters and political parties additional time to participate in the exercise.
The revised timelines were notified on Thursday. In most of the states, the final publication of the updated electoral rolls has been scheduled for November 30, while Delhi will follow a separate, extended timeline, with the final list due on December 22.
The Commission has extended the notice phase and the period for disposal of claims and objections to facilitate greater participation and ensure that concerns raised by electors are properly examined before the final rolls are published.
Under the revised schedule, Nagaland will accept claims and objections and continue the notice and disposal process until November 25. The final electoral rolls in the state will be published on November 30.
In Telangana, the corresponding period has been extended until November 26, while the final publication will also take place on November 30.
Andhra Pradesh and Haryana will follow identical schedules. In both states, the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will continue until November 20. The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on November 30.
Maharashtra has been given a more detailed revised timeline. The deadline for filing claims and objections has been extended until November 13. The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will continue until November 25, with the final electoral rolls scheduled for publication on November 30.
Delhi has received the longest extension among the regions covered by the latest notification. The period for filing claims and objections will continue until November 25. The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections have been extended until December 15, while the final publication of the revised electoral rolls is scheduled for December 22.
Chief Electoral Officers Asked to Publicise Revised Schedule
The Election Commission has directed the respective Chief Electoral Officers to communicate the revised timelines to all concerned officials and ensure that the modified schedule receives wide publicity through all available media platforms.
Political parties must also be informed about the changes in writing. Copies of the revised communications have been sent to the Chief Secretaries of the respective states and the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
The Special Intensive Revision is being conducted to ensure that electoral rolls remain accurate and up to date. The exercise is intended to provide eligible citizens an opportunity to seek inclusion in the voter lists and enable authorities to examine objections and claims before final publication.
The extensions are expected to give electors and political parties additional time to participate in the revision process, verify voter details and raise concerns regarding omissions or inaccuracies.
With the revised deadlines, the Commission aims to complete the electoral roll revision exercise in the specified regions within the updated schedule, while allowing sufficient time for the examination and disposal of claims and objections.
