Goa, Sept 2026: The IPL 2027 auction will be held in Goa in December, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia announced on Wednesday, bringing the high-profile event back to India after it was staged at overseas venues in recent seasons.
Saikia said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had decided to host the auction in Goa after recent editions were held in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
“This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations — Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi — last year, we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December,” Saikia said.
The exact date of the auction has not yet been finalised. However, it is expected to be held between December 14 and 16.
Goa has previously hosted an IPL auction, with the event taking place in the state in 2009 ahead of the second season of the league. The upcoming auction will determine player movements and squad-building plans for the 2027 IPL season.
Meanwhile, the BCCI has shifted the venue of the upcoming multi-day match between India A women and Australia A women from Dharamsala to Mohali.
The match, scheduled from September 29 to October 2, was originally scheduled to be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala. It will now be held at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
Saikia said the venue change was necessitated by prolonged rainfall and unfavourable weather conditions in Dharamsala.
“We have recently shifted the upcoming T20 matches from Dharamshala to Mohali because the ongoing weather conditions in Dharamshala are not very conducive for cricket. A lot of rainfall has been taking place there,” he said.
He added that the decision was taken to ensure that scheduled cricketing activities could proceed without disruption caused by the weather.
The venue change comes as the BCCI continues to monitor weather conditions while finalising arrangements for domestic and international fixtures. The shift from Dharamsala to Mohali is intended to provide suitable playing conditions for the India A and Australia A women’s teams during their upcoming engagement.
