Greater Noida/Lucknow, August 2026 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has taken another major step towards taking Uttar Pradesh to new heights in industrial investment, employment and modern infrastructure. Several important proposals related to industrial development, medical education, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, transportation, sports and farmers were approved at the 92nd Board Meeting of the Authority held on Monday.
The decisions will accelerate the development of the Jewar-Noida Airport region as an integrated industrial and institutional hub.
Initiatives such as a medical hub, university township, international stadium, interstate bus terminal, Taiwan City and pharmaceutical manufacturing cluster are expected to create new avenues for investment and employment in the region.
One of the most significant decisions taken at the meeting was the establishment of a medical hub on 500 acres of institutional land-use area in Sectors-13 and 14 of the Authority. Alongside this, the plan to develop a university township on 480 acres in Sector-14 was also advanced.
These projects will create new opportunities for high-quality medical facilities and higher education in the region. The development of the medical hub and university township will also generate employment opportunities in healthcare, education and allied services in the surrounding areas.
In a major step towards providing sports talent with an international-level platform, around 50 acres of land in Sector-23D has been identified for a modern international stadium. The development of the stadium will increase the potential for hosting major national and international sporting events in the region. It will also help provide better training and competitive facilities to local and state-level sportspersons.
Around 36 acres of land in Sector-34 has been identified for establishing a mandi with the objective of providing farmers with better markets and modern facilities. The modern mandi will help improve facilities related to the marketing, storage and trade of agricultural produce. It will provide farmers in the region with a more organised market system.
In view of the rapidly growing transportation requirements around Noida International Airport in Jewar, a decision has been taken to identify land for establishing an interstate bus terminal in Sector-23C. The facility will provide better public transport connectivity to passengers travelling to and from the airport, entrepreneurs and the general public. It will also strengthen connectivity between the airport, industrial areas and newly developing urban centres in the surrounding region.
Another important decision has been taken to promote foreign investment in the electronics and technology manufacturing sector in Uttar Pradesh. The Board approved a proposal to reserve 300 acres of land in Sector-06 for establishing Taiwan City. The project is expected to enhance the prospects of attracting Taiwan-based companies and investments related to technology manufacturing. It will strengthen the electronics, technology and manufacturing ecosystem in the region.
The Board Meeting also took a major decision towards establishing Uttar Pradesh as a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing centre. It was decided to reserve around 100 to 125 acres of land in Sector-06 for developing a dedicated Pharmaceutical Formulation Manufacturing Cluster. The cluster is envisaged to house units engaged in manufacturing medicines in accordance with national and international Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Units manufacturing tablets, capsules, injectables, oral liquids, topical preparations and finished dosage forms are proposed to be established here.
The initiative will attract investments from national and international pharmaceutical companies while creating significant employment opportunities. It will also help Uttar Pradesh secure an important position in the global pharma value chain and emerge as a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing hub.
To strengthen the medical device sector, the Board also approved a proposal to establish a medical device testing facility at YEIDA’s Medical Device Park in accordance with the US FDA’s Accreditation Scheme for Conformity Assessment (ASCA). The Board also approved a proposal to constitute a Technical Expert Committee to examine the technical, financial and institutional aspects of the project.
At present, Indian medical device manufacturers often have to depend on laboratories located abroad for product testing and conformity assessment in several cases. This increases both cost and time. The proposed international-level testing facility will provide medical device manufacturers and MSME units in the country with better testing facilities domestically.
The facility is planned to offer services including electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility, mechanical performance, software validation, sterilisation and packaging validation. This will promote investment and exports in the medical device sector.
The Board also approved the construction of a culvert (minor bridge) over the Karban River on the service road at Chainage 161.21 of the Yamuna Expressway in the Agra district, within the YEIDA area.
At present, excessive waterlogging during the rainy season disrupts traffic on the service road. Construction of the culvert will help ensure smooth traffic movement during the monsoon and provide local residents with safe and uninterrupted connectivity.
In view of rapid industrial and infrastructure development in the region, the Board approved a proposal to revise land purchase rates from farmers on the basis of mutual consent. Under the proposal, the existing rate for purchasing land through mutual consent for planned development in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Bulandshahr districts under Phase-1 of the Authority has been increased from Rs 4,300 per square metre to Rs 4,558 per square metre.
The revised rate represents a 6 percent increase. As an alternative arrangement, a rate of Rs 4,037 per square metre along with 7 percent abadi plots has also been determined for land purchase.
The financial position of the Authority was also presented at the Board Meeting. The Authority’s total receipts stood at Rs 974.37 crore as of July 31, 2025, during the financial year 2025-26, while they increased to Rs 1,853.74 crore as of July 31, 2026, during financial year 2026-27. This represents a 90.25 percent increase in total receipts compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
In particular, revenue of Rs 1,195.99 crore was generated under the Industrial/Mixed Land Scheme, accounting for 86.17 percent of the budget earmarked for the entire year under this head. Meanwhile, the Authority’s total expenditure stood at Rs 1,308.57 crore as of July 31, 2025, compared to Rs 3,690.64 crore as of July 31, 2026. Of this, Rs 3,371 crore was spent on land acquisition and repayment of loans taken from various banks.
The decisions taken at the 92nd Board Meeting of YEIDA are being viewed in the context of the expansion of the emerging economic zone around Jewar Airport. Through projects such as the medical hub, university township, pharma cluster, medical device testing facility, Taiwan City, international stadium and interstate bus terminal, preparations are underway to simultaneously accelerate industrial investment, employment, education, healthcare, sports and connectivity.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the role of the YEIDA region is becoming increasingly important in efforts to take Uttar Pradesh towards a one trillion-dollar economy and create a world-class industrial and investment ecosystem in the state in line with the goal of Viksit Bharat@2047.
