Champhai, August, 2026: A meeting was held today at the DC Conference Hall, Keifangtlang, under the chairpersonship of Pi Zodingpuii, Champhai District Electoral Roll Observer and also Secretary of the PHED/Art & Culture Department, to discuss various activities being undertaken under the Special Intensive Revision 2026.
Pi Zodingpuii said that it was encouraging that efforts were being made to prepare an accurate electoral roll in Champhai District. She said that the main objective of the Election Commission of India is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out and that no ineligible person is included in the Electoral Roll. She stressed the need for collective efforts to ensure that accurate electoral rolls continue to be maintained in the future as well. She also expressed her appreciation for the cooperation of the public, officials, political parties and voluntary organisations in ensuring the smooth completion of the SIR.
On the occasion, Election Officer Pu Ngulzathuama presented the various steps taken so far in Champhai District under the SIR. He stated that Training, Preparation and Printing activities were conducted from May 20 to 29, 2026. From May 30 to June 28, 2026, BLOs distributed and collected Enumeration Forms from households and digitised them using the BLO App. In addition, polling station rationalisation was undertaken, increasing the number of polling stations from 84 to 90. Following the publication of the Draft Electoral Roll, the period for Claims and Objections was held from July 5 to August 4, 2026. The Final Electoral Roll is scheduled to be published on September 7, 2026.
The meeting chaired by the Observer concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by District Election Officer Pu Mohammad Aaquib. Election Officers, EROs, AEROs, DIPRO, party representatives, MJA, Sub-Hqrs. YMA, MHIP and MUP representatives were present at the meeting.
