1,150 Kg/Litres of Substandard Food Items Destroyed; 60 Establishments Inspected and 101 Samples Collected
600 Litres of Suspected Milk Destroyed in Udaipur; Action Against Adulterated Sweets, Mawa, Ghee and Oil Across Rajasthan
Jaipur, August 2026 : The Food Safety and Drug Control Department conducted intensive inspections and enforcement action across Rajasthan on Saturday under the ‘Shuddh Aahar–Milawat Par Waar’ (Pure Food–Crackdown on Adulteration) campaign being implemented under the direction of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar.
During the statewide drive, 6,900 litres of suspected peanut oil were seized in Jaipur, while around 1,150 kg/litres of contaminated and substandard food products were destroyed in different districts.
Principal Secretary, Medical and Health, Gayatri Rathore said that no compromise would be tolerated with public health. She added that strict action against food adulteration and violations of food safety standards would continue.
Under the direction of Commissioner Dr T. Shubhamangala and supervision of Additional Commissioner Bhagwat Singh and Joint Commissioner Dr Vijay Prakash Sharma, officials inspected 60 establishments across the State and collected 101 samples. These included 54 enforcement samples and 47 surveillance samples.
6,900 Litres of Suspected Oil Seized in Jaipur
A central team from the department headquarters conducted a surprise inspection at M/s Shri Shyam Vegetable in Govind Nagar, Jaipur. Officials collected samples of refined and filtered peanut oil sold under the ‘Kundan Postman’ brand.
The officials suspected possible adulteration as the oil was being sold at a price significantly lower than the prevailing market rate. Consequently, 6,900 litres of the oil were seized.
The collected samples are being sent to the State Central Food Laboratory for detailed examination.
1,150 Kg/Litres of Food Products Destroyed Across Rajasthan
As part of the enforcement drive, several food products considered contaminated, stale or substandard were destroyed in different districts.
- Udaipur: 600 litres of suspected and contaminated milk were destroyed.
- Sweets: A total of 265 kg of contaminated and stale sweets were destroyed in Jaipur-II, Sirohi, Sikar, Karauli, Pali, Ajmer, Hanumangarh and Alwar.
- Milk Products and Mawa: A total of 148 kg of products were destroyed in Pali, Khairthal-Tijara, Bhilwara and Ajmer.
- Bikaner: 65 kg of suspected ghee and edible oil were destroyed.
- Other Food Products: A total of 72 kg of food items were destroyed in Ajmer, Barmer, Hanumangarh and Jodhpur.
Food Safety Commissioner Dr T. Shubhamangala said that once laboratory reports are received, strict legal action will be initiated against traders and persons found responsible for adulteration.
She said action would be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, against those found violating prescribed food safety norms.
The department said inspections, sampling and enforcement operations under the ‘Shuddh Aahar–Milawat Par Waar’ campaign will continue across Rajasthan to ensure the availability of safe and quality food to consumers and protect public health.
