New Delhi, Sept 2026 : Delhi Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood criticised former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of using inappropriate language and making politically motivated remarks.
“He has not made an allegation; he has behaved disrespectfully. Shri Arvind Kejriwal forgets that he once held a constitutional position. He was the Chief Minister of Delhi and now calls himself the national president of a political party. The kind of derogatory words he has used reflect what I would describe as his anarchist mindset,” Sood said.
He further alleged that Kejriwal was trying to regain his relevance in politics and among opposition parties.
“These are the kind of statements made by people who are upset and frustrated, and by those who say that they will chase and kill the country’s Prime Minister. The people of the country and the people of Delhi know that Arvind Kejriwal is extremely frustrated at present. He finds himself out of place and is trying to find his relevance, not only in politics but also among the opposition parties,” Sood said.
According to Sood, Kejriwal was attempting to establish his position not only in politics but also within the opposition camp.
“He is going around trying to find his stature, not only his political stature but also his position among opposition parties. That is why he makes such petty, frivolous and baseless statements, which are certainly what I would call Naxalite-type statements. He himself used to call himself an urban Naxal, and he is proving that through his actions,” Sood alleged.
Sood Responds to Kejriwal’s Questions on Women’s Safety
Responding to Kejriwal’s remarks questioning the government over women’s safety, Sood said the Delhi government was taking several measures to strengthen security.
“Arvind Kejriwal has also spoken about women’s safety and asked the government to complete its work. Let the government do its work, and we are moving forward to address these concerns,” Sood said.
He described women’s safety as a highly important issue and said the government was working on several aspects, ranging from police reforms to identifying dark spots across Delhi.
“Security is a very important issue. From police reforms to identifying dark spots in Delhi, several measures are being undertaken. Dark spots are not only about inadequate lighting but also about mobile network connectivity. Imagine travelling at night and suddenly losing mobile network connectivity for some time. It can create a great deal of panic,” he said.
Sood said the government was also increasing the deployment of women personnel at police stations and undertaking several other reforms since Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s government came to power.
“We consider this a very sensitive issue. After the government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta came to power, several reforms have been continuously undertaken, including greater deployment of women personnel at police stations,” he said.
Sood also alleged irregularities in the installation of CCTV cameras intended for women’s safety during the previous Delhi government.
“Arvind Kejriwal and his government left behind a major scam in the CCTV cameras that were supposed to be installed for women’s safety. There were many irregularities in that as well. There are also several shortcomings in the CCTV cameras installed in schools. We are working to rectify all these deficiencies,” he said.
Sood concluded by alleging that Kejriwal was making such accusations primarily in an attempt to regain political relevance.
