Rajasthan’s Heritage and Folk Arts Shine in Army Day Parade Tableau
Jaipur, January 2026 : During the Army Day parade on Mahal Road, Jaipur, the tableau presented by the Rajasthan Tourism, Art & Culture Department mesmerized spectators with its vibrant depiction of the state’s rich cultural and artistic heritage.
The grand tableau showcased Rajasthan’s centuries-old architecture, traditional handicrafts, and world-renowned folk arts, blending the state’s proud traditions with modern tourism. Amid the patriotic fervor of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” visitors were captivated by the unique representation of Rajasthan’s folk arts.
At the forefront, Rajasthan’s iconic puppetry (Kathputli) art was displayed, featuring a giant puppet leading the state’s folk traditions. Puppeteer Raju Bhat brought the figures to life, drawing the attention of all, symbolizing Rajasthan’s traditional custom of welcoming guests with art.
The mid-section of the tableau highlighted Rajasthan’s craft and skills, including terracotta figurines from Molela depicting religious and cultural motifs, Jaipur’s famous blue pottery, and traditional wall painting (Phad painting). Artisans were shown at work in traditional attire, representing the vitality of the state’s cottage industries.
The upper section celebrated folk dance traditions, with performers presenting Bharatpur’s Flowers Holi dance and the energetic Bam Rasia dance. A large LED screen in the background displayed documentaries by the Tourism, Art & Culture Department and showcased the architectural grandeur of Rajasthan’s historic palaces.
Around 12 folk artists walked alongside the tableau performing the Gair dance, while a women’s group led by Moru Sapera performed the mesmerizing Kalbeliya dance, spreading the colors of Rajasthan’s folk culture. The tableau also featured the Kacchi Ghodi dance, representing the martial skills of historical warriors, captivating the audience with its energy and heritage.
The tableau offered a comprehensive glimpse of Rajasthan’s art, craft, and cultural legacy, making it a highlight of the Army Day parade and delighting visitors with its rich symbolism and vivid performances.
