CM Yogi explained how to interact with children
Gave a mantra to Shiksha Mitra: Teach with love, never resort to physical punishment, bring children to school by visiting every household
Inspire children with good stories, poems and excellent examples
Ensure children come in clean clothes, bathed and well-groomed, and make parents aware of this
Gorakhpur, May 2026 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also seen in the role of a guide during the Shiksha Mitra felicitation ceremony. He gave Shiksha Mitra a mantra on how to interact with children. CM stated, “Creating a desire to learn in every child is the responsibility of parents, teachers and society. Shiksha Mitra should not remain limited to teaching only, but should also run a campaign to bring every child to school. Teachers and Shiksha Mitra are the craftsmen who build the foundation of children.”
He told Shiksha Mitra, “Children should never be subjected to physical punishment. Beating will make a child stubborn and defiant. Explain things to them with love. Inspire them through good stories, poems and ideal examples. Do not bring family tensions into the school or to the children. Leave stress at home before coming to school.”
Chief Minister added, if we prepare a good generation, that generation will bring good people in every field. Good teachers, good doctors, honest traders, good farmers, capable bureaucrats, good police personnel and good politicians as well. Politicians do not descend from above. The children you are teaching today will become future leaders. Therefore, as you plant, so shall you reap. We should work with a positive mindset. All of you have the capability to deliver better results. Give up negative thinking.
Sharing his experience, the Chief Minister stated, he felt very happy today. He asked the Principal of a Basic Education Council school about the number of students. That school had 280 children studying. This number shows that something good and positive is happening there.
He informed, “When I was a Member of Parliament, I used to visit schools and Anganwadi centres, and even today, whenever I am in the field, I make it a point to visit schools. I enjoy interacting with children.”
CM Yogi shared an interesting anecdote. He said, “Once he visited an Anganwadi centre where there were 20-22 children aged 3 to 5 years. He was observing quietly from outside. The Anganwadi workers were lovingly teaching counting to the children through songs, “one-one-one, my nose is one… two-two-two, my eyes are two.” The children were repeating after them. When he entered, the workers hesitated. When he asked a child what he had learned, the child immediately said, “one-one-one, my nose is one,” and another child pointed to his eyes and said, “two-two-two, my eyes are two.” See how easily counting was being taught through examples. With such good examples, we can teach children a lot.
Chief Minister assigned responsibility to all Shiksha Mitra to make parents aware. Children should come in clean clothes, after bathing, and with properly groomed hair. In a light-hearted remark, he said there is no need to imitate Ravi Kishan, children should have neatly trimmed hair. Before 2017, 60-70% of children used to come barefoot or wearing slippers. Now the government is providing two uniforms, sweaters, shoes and socks, so parents should also fulfill their responsibility.
With schools set to reopen in the first week of July, the Chief Minister appealed to all Shiksha Mitra to run another phase of the “School Chalo” campaign. Teachers should reach school half an hour early. Visit 25 households and ask parents how many children they have, and bring them to school. During school hours, no child should be found swimming in ponds.
He also advised teachers and all Shiksha Mitra to participate in sports activities with children.
Chief Minister added, an educated society will lead to an empowered society and an empowered nation. From here, the foundation of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ will be laid.
