Newly Elected AMC Corporators Sworn In; Mayor And Deputy Mayor Elected

Aizawl May 2026 : The swearing-in ceremony of the 19 newly elected Corporators of the Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC), elected in the 2026 AMC elections, was held today at the Board of Corporators (BOC) Meeting Hall, AMC Office, Thuampui. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor were also elected during the function.

The function was chaired by Municipal Commissioner Mr. Joseph H. Lalramsanga. After the names of the newly elected Corporators were read out, Aizawl District Magistrate, Er. Lalhriatpuia, administered the oath of allegiance to the Constitution of India to the 19 newly elected AMC Corporators.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor was conducted in accordance with Section 4 of The Mizoram Municipalities (Procedures & Conduct of Business) Rules, 2007. As there were no other candidates, Ward VI Corporator Mr. H. Lalremtluanga was declared elected as Mayor and Ward XVI Corporator Mrs. R. Lalawmpuii as Deputy Mayor under Rule 4(5). The newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor also took the oath of secrecy.

The newly elected Mayor, Mr. H. Lalremtluanga, appointed four Executive Corporators namely: Ms. Christina Roluahpuii Sailo (Ward VIII), Mr. Vanlalhruaia (Ward XIII), Mr. Vanlalfaka (Ward III) and Mr. K. Lalrodinga (Ward XVIII). The Executive Corporators also took the oath of secrecy.

Today’s AMC Corporators’ swearing-in ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Mr. Lalduhoma, Assembly Speaker Mr. Lalbiakzama, Ministers Mr. K. Sapdanga, Mr. C. Lalsawivunga, Dr. Vanlalthlana, Mr. B. Lalchhanzova, Prof. Lalnilawma and Mr. Lalnghinglova Hmar, besides Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Mr. K. Vanlalvena and MLAs Mr. Lalchhuanthanga and Mr. H.Ginzalal.
