Foundation Stones Laid for Various Development Projects in Roha

Raigad-Alibag, May 2026: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar on Monday said that the development of the Konkan region forms the backbone of Maharashtra’s overall progress and reiterated the government’s commitment to balanced and inclusive growth in the coastal belt.

She was speaking at a programme held in Roha town where foundation stones were laid for several development projects aimed at boosting infrastructure and civic amenities in the region.

The event was organised at the Dr C.D. Deshmukh Hall in Roha and was attended by MP Sunil Tatkare, Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, former MLA Aniket Tatkare, Zilla Parishad Vice Chairman Madhukar Patil, District Collector Kishan Jawale, Superintendent of Police Aachal Dalal, Roha-Ashtami Municipal Council President Vanshree Shedge, Vice President Ahmed Darzi, Chairperson Vijaya Pashilkar, Deputy Chairperson Sanjay Mandluskar, Murud Municipal President Dandekar, Chief Officer Ajaykumar Edke and other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Pawar said that development does not merely mean constructing cement buildings or roads, but bringing positive change in the lives of ordinary citizens. She stated that the government is giving priority to development that maintains a balance between faith, culture, environment, tourism and employment.

She praised the people of Konkan for being hardworking, sincere and resilient, and said that the region’s growth is crucial for the state’s advancement.

Highlighting the historical significance of Raigad district, she said it is the sacred land where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was crowned and also the site of Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s historic Mahad Chavdar Tale Satyagraha, which symbolised social equality and justice.

She added that Konkan is a naturally rich and culturally vibrant region, and the government remains committed to accelerating its development.

Several projects in the Roha-Ashtami Municipal Council area were launched during the programme. These include the construction of flood protection walls at multiple locations along the Kundalika river, development of a food street at the Kundalika River Conservation Garden, installation of the “Shivsrushti” sculpture designed by J.J. School of Arts, renovation of the devotees’ accommodation facility at Dhaveer Maharaj Temple, and development of the late Dattajirao G. Tatkare Blood Bank.

Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, while speaking on the occasion, recalled the developmental vision of late Ajitdada and said he always stressed the importance of quality infrastructure projects. She informed that foundation stones were laid for projects worth around Rs 12.30 crore under the next phase of the Kundalika River Conservation Project.

MP Sunil Tatkare also highlighted the developmental vision of late Ajitdada and said that efforts are underway to accelerate growth through effective implementation of various state and central government schemes.

A large number of citizens, public representatives and government officials attended the programme.
