Strengthen Services Under the State Labour Insurance Scheme: Minister of State Meghna Sakore-Bordikar
Mumbai, May 2026: Maharashtra Minister of State for Public Health and Family Welfare Meghna Sakore-Bordikar on Monday said that effective implementation of the State Labour Insurance Scheme is essential to provide better and more accessible healthcare services to workers across the state.
She was speaking during a review meeting of the State Labour Insurance Scheme held at the MSRDC office in Nirmal Bhavan.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the number of registered beneficiaries under the scheme, contributions received from members, the functioning of hospitals and dispensaries operating under the insurance scheme, proposals for opening new healthcare centres, and the availability of hospital beds for workers in the state.
Minister Sakore-Bordikar emphasised that timely and quality healthcare services for workers are of utmost importance. She directed officials to improve the efficiency and functioning of hospitals and dispensaries operating under the insurance scheme.
The meeting also discussed proposals for establishing new dispensaries considering the growing healthcare needs in industrial areas across the state.
A review was also conducted regarding the number of hospital beds available under the scheme, treatment facilities, availability of medical staff and supply of medicines. The minister instructed officials to take all necessary measures to ensure that workers and their family members do not face any difficulties in accessing medical treatment.
Senior officials from the concerned departments were present at the meeting.
