Rajasthan Marks State-Level National Technology Day; CM Bhajanlal Sharma Announces Brahmagupta Award and Innovation Push
Jaipur, May 2026: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that science, technology, and innovation are the true drivers of development, urging the youth to overcome hesitation and aim high in building a technologically advanced and self-reliant India.
He was addressing the state-level National Technology Day celebrations held at Birla Auditorium in Jaipur on Monday.
The Chief Minister called upon young innovators to help transform Rajasthan into a global leader in technology through innovation and entrepreneurship. He said the state government is committed to supporting youth through initiatives like iStart, My Bharat, and the Chief Minister’s Youth Self-Employment Scheme.
Sharma emphasized that a strong ecosystem is being developed in the state through start-ups, skill development, research, and digital services. He encouraged youth to take full advantage of these opportunities and contribute to nation-building.
Brahmagupta Award and Innovation Centre Announced
On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced the launch of the Brahmagupta Award in honour of the renowned 7th-century mathematician and astronomer from Bhinnamal, Jalore. The award will recognise outstanding contributions in science, mathematics, innovation, and research.
He said the award will not only honour India’s rich scientific heritage but also inspire future generations of scientists and innovators.
Sharma also announced the establishment of an Innovation Centre in Jaipur’s coaching hub to promote creativity and technological development among students and young entrepreneurs.
Technology as the Foundation of Development
Highlighting the significance of May 11, he said the day represents self-confidence, self-reliance, and national pride, marking India’s nuclear tests conducted in Pokhran in 1998. He credited the vision of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and scientific contributions of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for the achievement.
He said India’s journey from “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” to “Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan” reflects its technological progress. He also referred to India’s achievements during the COVID-19 pandemic and advancements in space missions, defence production, and artificial intelligence.
Rajasthan’s Tech Transformation
The Chief Minister said Rajasthan is emerging as a hub of innovation powered by its youth. The state is establishing a centralized drone cell to promote the use of AI and machine learning in disaster management, agriculture, urban planning, and environmental protection.
An AI-ML policy has also been introduced to ensure responsible use of emerging technologies.
He informed that 820 science clubs are being set up in schools, including model and PM SHRI schools, to promote scientific learning. Over 500 schools now have robotics labs to encourage hands-on innovation.
He added that the state’s strict action against paper leaks has strengthened youth confidence, while investments are generating large-scale employment opportunities.
Youth Engagement and Exhibition
The Chief Minister interacted virtually with students, teachers, and young entrepreneurs connected through science clubs across the state. He also took a pledge from the youth to dedicate themselves to innovation, science, and public service.
Earlier, he visited an exhibition showcasing technological innovations by various institutions and encouraged participants for their efforts.
The event was also addressed by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel and Science and Technology Minister Sanjay Sharma, who highlighted the role of innovation in achieving self-reliance and employment generation.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, legislators, and a large number of students and youth, were present at the event.
