Rabada, Holder Power Gujarat Titans to Crushing 82-Run Win Over Sunrisers Hyderabad

Ahmedabad, May 2026 : Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder delivered a devastating bowling performance as Gujarat Titans (GT) crushed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 82 runs in a dominant Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

After composed half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar guided Gujarat Titans to a competitive total of 168/5 in 20 overs, the bowlers took complete control and bundled out Sunrisers Hyderabad for just 86 in 14.5 overs.

The emphatic victory further strengthened Gujarat’s position in the race for the IPL playoffs, while Hyderabad suffered one of their heaviest defeats of the season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s chase got off to a disastrous start as Mohammed Siraj produced a sensational opening over. The pacer dismissed dangerous opener Travis Head for a duck in a wicket-maiden over, immediately putting the visitors under pressure.

Kagiso Rabada then intensified the collapse with a fiery spell of fast bowling. Although Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan briefly counterattacked with a few aggressive strokes, Rabada struck twice in quick succession. Abhishek dragged the ball back onto his stumps, while Kishan edged behind to the wicketkeeper.

At 23/3, Hyderabad were already struggling badly.

Smaran Ravichandran and Heinrich Klaasen attempted to rebuild the innings with a few boundaries, but Rabada continued to exploit the seam movement and bounce available on the surface. He dismissed Smaran in the sixth over to complete an excellent spell of 3/28 from four overs as SRH slumped to 34/4 during the powerplay.

Klaasen and Salil Arora then tried to stabilise the innings in the middle overs, but Jason Holder quickly ended any hopes of a recovery. The West Indies all-rounder bowled with discipline and variation, troubling the batters consistently.

Holder first removed Klaasen, who mistimed a pull shot and was caught by Jos Buttler. He then dismissed Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shivang Kumar in quick succession to leave Hyderabad in complete disarray.

Holder finished with impressive figures of 3/20 from four overs and ensured SRH never came close to the required run rate.

Prasidh Krishna also made valuable contributions with the ball, taking two wickets, including the important scalp of SRH captain Pat Cummins. Rashid Khan wrapped up the innings by claiming the final wicket as Hyderabad collapsed for 86.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans recovered strongly after a difficult start with Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar playing crucial innings under pressure.

Pat Cummins and Praful Hinge kept the Gujarat batters quiet during the powerplay and dismissed captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler cheaply. GT struggled to build momentum early and managed only 34/2 after six overs.

Sai Sudharsan once again anchored the innings with a calm and mature knock. The left-handed batter absorbed the pressure before gradually accelerating with elegant drives and clean hitting down the ground. He reached his half-century with a well-played sweep shot and continued to hold the innings together during the middle overs.

Nishant Sindhu chipped in with a useful cameo before Cummins broke the partnership.

Washington Sundar then took charge alongside Sudharsan in the latter part of the innings. Sundar attacked both pace and spin confidently and found boundaries regularly. Sudharsan scored a composed 61 off 44 balls before being dismissed by Sakib Hussain.

Sundar continued the momentum in the death overs and brought up an important fifty off 33 deliveries before falling in the final over. Late contributions from Jason Holder and Rahul Tewatia pushed Gujarat Titans to 168, which ultimately proved far beyond Hyderabad’s reach on a challenging pitch.

Brief scores:

Gujarat Titans 168/5 in 20 overs (Sai Sudharsan 61, Washington Sundar 50; Sakib Hussain 2/37, Praful Hinge 2/17) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad 86 all out in 14.5 overs (Pat Cummins 19, Salil Arora 16; Kagiso Rabada 3/28, Jason Holder 3/20, Prasidh Krishna 2/23) by 82 runs.
