NTA Activates Refund Facility for Cancelled NEET-UG 2026, Students Asked to Submit Bank Details
New Delhi, May 2026 : The National Testing Agency (NTA) has activated the refund facility for candidates who appeared in the cancelled NEET-UG 2026 examination held on May 3, allowing students to reclaim their examination fee through an online process on the official portal.
According to an official notification, the refund option has been made available on the NEET-UG 2026 registration website. Candidates who had registered for the exam can log in using their application credentials and access a dedicated refund link to complete the submission of bank details.
To receive the refund, applicants are required to provide key banking information, including the account holder’s name, bank name, account number, and IFSC code. Candidates also have the option to upload a scanned copy of a cancelled cheque to ensure accuracy of the submitted details and avoid processing errors.
The NTA has clearly stated that once submitted, the bank details will be treated as final and no further corrections or modifications will be permitted. Candidates have therefore been advised to carefully verify all information before submitting their refund request.
The last date to submit bank details for the refund process is May 27, 2026, up to 11:50 PM. Officials have urged candidates not to wait until the final hours to avoid last-minute technical issues.
The refund process follows the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination after serious allegations of irregularities, including reports of a question paper leak. The controversy had triggered widespread concern among students and parents across the country and led to multiple investigations, including a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The original NEET-UG 2026 examination was conducted on May 3 for admissions to undergraduate medical courses across India. However, it was later cancelled after allegations emerged that certain individuals had allegedly accessed the question paper in advance and distributed it to candidates in exchange for money.
Investigating agencies have so far arrested 11 individuals in connection with the case, as the probe continues into the wider network allegedly involved in the leak.
Following the cancellation, the NTA announced that the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will now be held on June 21. The exam will take place from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM (IST), including the time allotted for examination formalities and instructions.
The agency has also advised candidates to regularly check the official NTA website for updates related to the refund process, admit cards, and other instructions regarding the rescheduled examination.
The development marks an important step in addressing student concerns after the disruption, with authorities aiming to ensure transparency in the refund mechanism as well as in the conduct of the upcoming re-examination.
