CM Directs Strong Road Connectivity and Faster Highway Development Across Bihar
Patna, May 2026: Chief Minister Shri Samrat Chaudhary today chaired a review meeting of the Road Construction Department at the “Sankalp” Hall, 1 Anne Marg, the Chief Minister’s residence.
During the meeting, Road Construction Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar Pal presented a detailed update through a presentation on departmental works, ongoing projects, and future action plans. He also provided comprehensive information on the progress of national highways and state highways under construction, along with expected completion timelines.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure better connectivity linking all district headquarters through four-lane roads. He said that all ongoing expressway, national highway, and state highway projects in the state must be completed in a time-bound, high-speed, and quality manner.
He emphasized that Bihar should develop a robust road network to ensure faster movement of people and goods, and directed that efforts be made to achieve the target of enabling travel from remote areas to Patna within five hours.
The Chief Minister further instructed that tourism destinations, cultural heritage sites, industrial corridors, special agricultural production zones, and major marketplaces in the state must be better connected through improved road infrastructure. He said this would accelerate economic growth and generate new employment opportunities across Bihar.
He also directed strict implementation of the Bridge Maintenance Policy and stressed the need for continuous monitoring of the quality and strength of bridges across the state. He said that based on expert reports, the permanent reconstruction work of the Vikramshila Bridge should be taken up immediately.
The Chief Minister ordered that the Kachchi Dargah–Bidupur six-lane bridge project be completed by the first week of July, ensuring no further delays.
